Why stay on property?

My only point is, the grossness of leaving uneaten food outside your door in a value/moderate. Meaning outside, outside. Lol. Not outside your room, indoors in a hallway, but literally outside. Maybe if you’ve never stayed in a value/moderate, you just didn’t realize that it’s like a motel.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! I had no idea a value was like a motel, or at least I didn't correlate that they were because my mind was in "deluxe" mode. In that situation, it actually makes a lot of sense that room service consists of disposable silverware and plates. They are obviously trying to encourage people to throw things away. And I would absolutely agree that they shouldn't be left outside, outside. LOL.

I apologize for the confusion. It seemed like this was starting to turn into a "gotcha" conversation, which is always something I can't stand when an innocent mistake was made.

I obviously didn't know values was the discussion. I have now said that multiple times. Again, go back and look at the thread. The original discussion was people saying you shouldn't leave room service trays outside at Poly and the other deluxe. So it may have evolved to something else, but that was obviously lost on me. I have never stayed at a value so I can't speak intelligently as to what happens there.

But rewind the convo. I haven't seen trays completely cluttering deluxe hallways. And if people are bringing food back from non room service places and leaving it outside the room in deluxe resorts (or anywhere, really) then that is wrong. But, in deluxe resorts, if room service trays (complete with actual plates, actual glasses, actual silverware, dome lids for plates, etc) are being left out in hallways then that is completely acceptable. Especially with the domes covering the plates. Do you disagree?

Do you really think it’s fine to leave a whole tray of food on the ground like that outdoors? Some people will put those out late at night.

If you’re on the ground floor, the only ones picking it up at that point are going to be the animals strewing it around the pathways, dragging it into the bushes and making an awful mess that nobody wants to be walking through the next morning.

And it doesn't have to be Ground Floor.

NEVER acceptable for a Guests to do this-too many other options.

No, I made myself misunderstood. I'm saying it's not any employees job to patrol the halls for trash etc. You can take your trash and trays to where they go or leave them in your room till housekeeping comes the next morning, two days later, whatever.

I'm saying it's awesome to think that employees see it and think "oh well, if they want to pay hundreds a night to stay in a pigpen, go for it". My other point was I wish instead of ignoring filthy customers, I wish they'd be warned that that is unsanitary for customers and employees and if it happens again, you'll be asked to leave.

It's the customers job not to litter common areas, not employees jobs to account for bad manners. People on this thread are mostly incensed that employees aren't cleaning it up, not incensed that filthy people are permitted to continue doing this. Just my opinion...I know most won't agree with that.

It's funny too..."what am I supposed to do with my food and trash when I don't want it anymore!?". Uh, you toss the trash in the trash in your room and leave the tray by your door (inside) until your room is serviced. Do you toss your dishes and trash in the neighbors yard cause "yuck I'm done with it and don't want to see it anymore". One warning, then bounced...in my opinion.

You and me both If people actually did put the tray out and used the cover to cover their scraps that would be one thing but the majority of trays that I see were like the picture Plus how lazy can people be when they cannot even pour out their glasses and just put it on the tray half full. I will say that I mainly only see this at WDW, when I stay at other "normal" hotels I may only see a couple of trays out at most and they just do not seem to be as messy.

I totally agree. I mentioned that I do not leave it out at WDW and will either throw it out myself or leave it in our room for mousekeeping, and I have never had mousekeeping NOT take our trays. But if the resort is telling people to leave it out (I still do not do it) then they need to do a better job of picking them up.

At this point the only on property resorts I would stay at would be Poly/GF/Contemporary or YC/BC/BWV. These offer you the access to MK or Epcot/HS that is a big game changer. We're lucky, being that I'm active Military that we have the option for Shades but I've only stayed there for the first time this last year. We have done multiple trips at All Stars and then Port Orleans and believe me we LOVE Riverside. With the loss of the majority of the perks I really could only see us booking at YC/BC because being able to walk out of the room and into Epcot/HS is huge but even with the very hefty discount Disney gives military members, it's still about 3x as expensive to stay there for us than Shades. Off site has got to be looking very attractive for a lot of people now.

I will say that since we always drive down from VA now, the free parking at the parks is VERY hard to pass up for us. I loved that perk staying on property, especially because we park hop so frequently.

I canceled BC and booked at Swan instead because it was literally half the price for Thanksgiving week.

If that is the reason I think it's pretty ridiculous. If that was the case then the hallways would be swarming with bugs, because of the number of trays left out. Not to mention WDW does a great job with bug control from mosquitos to roaches. We have almost 40 trips to WDW and since we drive, we always bring snacks (chips, crackers etc.) and we have always left them out in the room and not once have we seen any type of bug by them.

Actually, Shades of Green has their own bus system. The buses you ride from Shades are shades of Green buses. You can use the WDW buses but you'd need to walk to Poly of TTC and pick them up there.

Correct. I took "WDW bus system" to be a generic term for buses inside the WDW bubble. Yes, Shades of Green has their own bus system that runs an extremely efficient schedule. We found ourselves actually waiting less for the Shades of Green buses than we did for the Disney buses. We utilized both the Disney and Shades of Green buses during our stays. We would also walk to Poly and take the monorail.

We will be at Gran Destino in October.

We've never been to Coronado Springs, so I watched a lot of walk through videos on you-tube. It really is a beautiful resort. The grounds are gorgeous, very lush, reminds me of Polynesian, but you know, not Hawaiian. I love all the bridges, all the lighting. Looks gorgeous at night.

I can't wait to experience in person!!!

The Disney deluxe resorts' themed pools with waterslides are very special. The only off-property resort I've seen that rivals what Disney deluxes offer in that regard is Four Seasons Orlando, but you won't stay there for "less money". A lot of families like to swim during their vacations, and kids tend to really like waterslides. So that's one bona fide reason to stay on property.

Sure you won’t stay at the Four Seasons for significantly less money (well most of the time), but it’s usually similarly priced to the Deluxes and there’s no comparison between the two in terms of quality. The Four Seasons is far nicer than any of the Deluxes in almost every way but location.
