Why stay at BCV over BWV

I have never stayed at BCV only at BWL. During our last stay we got a small taste of a Grand Villa. Frances took our trip from us! We left 2 days early and had to drive home. It was soooo sad. I loved that villa. For our next trip, the end of Sept.(are we crazy?) we decided to stay at BCV cuz we reserved 2 1-bedrooms and smack in the middle there were no boardwalk views for just one night. If I'm paying the points, I want a BW view. If we waitlist, one of the two may not come thru so we decided to stay at BCV.
The kids are excited cuz of the pool.
Still deciding whether to keep ressies or switch back and waitlist.
???????????

We don't care much for BWV. They are too noisy and busy for us. We prefer BCV instead.

Never stayed at BWV, but we own at BCVs and just got back from a wonderful trip. My reasons...

1.) A chance to try another great DVC resort.

2.) Storm Along Bay - it really is a great pool, even for just looking at ;)

3.) The ability to walk to Cape May! The dinner was really good. And I know the character breakfast always gets good reviews.

4.) The atmosphere in general - so relaxing!

5.) The ability to walk or boat to Epcot and MGM.

6.) The sand beach.

All of this and the parking is better at the BCV too, if you have a car.

I'm the opposite I love my standard view BWV 2bdrm...I can only think of the pool as the only reason to stay there and that just isn't enough to swing me....I love the hotel feel of the BWV's. The CM are the greatest...So I just started booking spring break for next year at BWV once again.

How's that. You give your keys to the valet and they park your car. Plus the walk from valet to your room is shorter since BWV is the primary resort with a direct connection to check-in as opposed to BCV being added on later.

I always laugh when people say BWV is too noisy or busy. Its only noisy or busy if you hang out at the BW, otherwise its identical to BCV(which doesn't have a place to really hang out).

By the way, BCV and BWV are my favorite two DVC resorts.

I prefer being on the "quieter" side of the lake, and having the chance of getting an epcot view room.

But, for me...one of the biggest differences between BWV and BCV is that at BCV you are right at the "lake level" instead of being raised up on a boardwalk. It may seem really minor, but I find that being right down on the level with the lake gives the hotel a much more "resort-ish" feel.

Another seemingly silly, but kind of significant difference to me is (and, probably NO one else...because I AM silly like this) that at BWV the pool is on the back side of the resort, but at BCV, the pool is "lakeside". There is just something really cool about that! It's nice to sit out by SAB or even a patio table at Beaches 'n Cream, look OVER SAB and see the lake and BW. And, there is something equally cool about coming back to the resort at night, and if you want to, walk right past SAB to enter the hotel and get to your room.

To me, it's not that the BW area is "nosy", as much at it is "busy". BC is much quieter, yet still has the ability to walk outside of your resort and be "in the middle" of it all.

Bottom line....they are both WONDERFUL resorts (definitely my first and second choice at WDW), but BCV comes out on top for me!!!

Have fun staying there...I am JEALOUS!!!!

We own at BWV and love it, but after reading the various posts on this thread...we're ready to do a BCV trip next stay. Given that we love Epcot and BC seems like the place to go. Never focused on the "lakeside" feature of BC.

Hope we can get in when we want to...

We own at BWV and love it there. But, we are giving BCV a try next month. It's nice to try out the other resorts. I plan on staying in each one, at least once. We are eager to see how SAB is. I like Luna Park, especially since you don't have to leave the pool area to use the slide.
And we have never had a noise issue at BWV. Very quiet. Love being able to walk, easily, to both Epcot and MGM.
Both terrific resorts!

The biggest advantage I found at BCV when I visited last summer is that they have their own alligator. I know one gator was captured a few months back. Has anyone seen one lately?

Perhaps it's just too early in the morning for me, but I'm trying to understand how that's an "advantage". Unless of course you're traveling with problematic in-laws - then perhaps having a gator handy would be an advantage! :teeth:

The valet may not be easier but try the self-parking!! It is right at the end of BCV's main hallway and is never even half full.

cant wait to stay at the BCV first time this Aug
DS wants VWL, I want to try BCV so we're staying at both

Why stay at BCV over BWV??
I think you answered one of your own questions lol :)
The kids are excited cuz of the pool.
SAB is one of the biggest reasons in itself being that you can no longer pool hop to what many consider the best pool on property;) If you stay at BCV's you not only get SAB but the privelege to hop to any other pool....except of course AKL but unless you stay at BCV's (or the regular portions of YC & BC) you cannot use SAB.

Beyond that...great resturants and equality in how nice the villas are and proximity to the parks.

I would say pool (and maybe parking)...for our family the pool alone was enough to get us to add on...we were staying at OKW and pool hopped over to the BCV (when it was still allowed) got home from our trip and did an add on.

Have stayed at both and would definitely choose Beach Club over Boardwalk(my personal preference).
If you have not stayed at BCV, then why not try it. What is not to like? If you have children then they will truly enjoy SAB. I'm sure you will enjoy it. :cool1:

We looked and looked, but never saw the gator. And my DS really tried. We did see a couple nice turtles swimming around :)

And I wanted to second the parking at BCV - it really was nice to be able to park so close to our room with the self park lot. And we did valet some too, and that worked fine too. The walk wasn't really as bad as some make out.

Thanks for all the great reasons!! I do love the thought of being at the pool and being on the lake side. I'm a creature of habit. It'll be good to do something different. Since there are 5 kids going, the thought of a closer walk to Epcot is nice too.
We are thinking of going to Universal for one of the days. That'll be 2 habits broken in one vacation.
Thanks again :cheer2:

Just returned from a wonderful stay at BCV. We own there, and have also stayed at BWV and love it as well. There are lots of reasons to stay at both.

This is fairly minor, but one of the newer advantages of the BCV is the new Beach Club Marketplace. Now that you can use it to fill the refillable mugs, it makes it really close and easy to take advantage of this. DW and I never used them at BCV because it was such a hike to Hurricane Hanna's or Beaches and Cream. Now it's a quick walk across the courtyard. Once we had the mugs, we didn't even make coffee in the morning, I just grabbed our mugs and filled them up. LOL, I usually saw at least 2 or 3 other DH's on the same mission!

We also second (or third) the ease of parking. We were there for a week, and always found close parking at the end right by the bridge leading to the BCV's. Fast, easy, and no wait (or tip!) for valets.

We love the BCV for many of the same reasons others have stated. Quiet atmosphere (not talking about noise), ease of parking, SAB. Even valet is close...closer than many BC rooms I think....but we never use it when self park is steps away from the door. Like Beca, we enjoy the lake feel as opposed to a boardwalk.

But since it sounds like you enjoy that Boardwalk view, will you be happy with a woods or pool view? And some rooms face the back of Soarin', etc.. We enjoy those back of BCV views but you will be paying the same in points as a Boardwalk view I think. Not to talk you out of trying BCV, we love it.
