Why should I not rent from Dollar?

We never rent a car so this whole thing is new to me. I have been pricing out full size cars for weeks and the prices are insane for the 4 days that I need a vehicle. I have a good rate with Alamo but I cannot pick up the car until midnight. We get in at 10:30 pm so may be a non issue but I would rather not have to wait for our car. Have a slightly higher rate with National for the time we need. Then today Dollar gives me a quote of $95 inclusive of everything. Am I missing something? The other rates were $120 and $140, respectively. Is there any reason why we should not rent from Dollar? My husband and I will be sharing the driving.

All of my experiences with Dollar have been positive. They do charge for a 2nd driver, though, so be sure & factor that into your cost.

Dollar also keeps their cars around longer than National and Alamo so it may have more miles. My Dad also somehow always ends up with a huge Grampa car from when he books through Dollar :rotfl: Not a big deal at all as they are roomy for luggage but we always have quite a laugh watching him drive them around on our trips.

We have used Dollar at MCO several times and never had a problem. Currently for our October trip Dollar is the lowest and wouldn't hesitate to use that reservation if we can't find anything lower.

Although I have never had a problem, make sure you get the paper where you can mark EACH AND EVERY mark, scratch, scuff on the car and get it signed by an attendant. Then take photos of the entire car. That way if there is an issue about damage you have some proof. This is good advice for every car rental company.

Does anyone know if they charge for the second driver when booking through AAA?

I would call either AAA or Dollar and find out. Alamo will charge for an add driver if you are not a member of their Insider's program. National will charge for an add driver if you are not a member of their Emerald Club. Both of these programs are free to join.

I know that you are not charged for an add driver if you book Hertz through AAA, not sure about other companies.
