Why send out pin code, when there's no availability?

Disney sent my dh a postcard this past Tuesday for free dining in the fall. I called to see if we could get a moderate or deluxe for our week and the only thing available was the Polynesian, which is having construction done for almost $6K for 7 nights with 8 day park base tickets. Our week would be 11/1 thru 11/8 and I also tried 11/9 thru 11/16 and the same almost no availability. Why send out an offer when there is barely nothing available?

Not be snarky but they send it out because some people will feel compelled to take advantage of the deal despite the limited availability. Folks go ga-ga over Free Dining (I am not one of them due to being a DVC owner and AP holder).

Now what I find interesting is that FD is offered to drive bookings for a time that normally isn't busy so to hear that there is limited availability tells me that the promo is working or Disney had a miss on what they thought would be the downtime for this fall.

When I tried to make a reservation the CM said to me, "this offer has been out since May 7th" and I said, "we just got the offer yesterday (june 17th). The whole code thing is ridiculous IMO. I know it's a marketing strategy but just offer it to everyone at the same time and first come, first served.

The offer became available to the General Public on May 7th, and then later they sent out Pin Codes randomly and included some dates that weren't included with the general public offer and the pin code even includes Port Orleans Resorts- which were excluded to the general public also. I got my pin well after May 7th and was able to use it for POFQ for 11/12-11/18!

Keep trying back. I was already booked for CSR 9/6-9/14, I got a PIN in the mail and called to try and book POFQ or POR. No availability. I was so disappointed. On a whim I called 3 days ago to check again and both resorts were available. I chose POFQ....and am so excited!

I was just playing around with the dates last night and during your week under the PIN code there are few choices in all categories! I even saw POR which has been a hard one to get! I would look again! You can look online too . Good luck I hope you find what you are looking for!!:goodvibes

We got our PIN may 20 something i believe. And yes there wasnt too much available after FDing was released. We booked por but am in a garden view rgr due to no reg rooms. So alot of ppl received pins via email and snail mail. So basically it is first come first served. Not to be mean but those who called already took what they can get. We are a family of 5 and 4 going this trip so FDing works well for us where it doesnt for other ppl

We are booked on a FD pin code, I just checked and I am seeing tons of availability at POR, POFQ, AOA, Cabins and CBR for 11/1 to 11/8
POR, POFQ, AOA, and Cabins for 11/9 to 11/15!
We noticed that POR & POFQ opened up for us today after being booked up on the FD pin code, so I think they added more rooms!

sorry for the stupid question...

How can I check online for the pincode availability? I thought I could only call in?

There should be a link on your postcard/email. Answer a few questions, including entering your PIN, and you can get the to booking screen for the PIN.
