Why no Vegas? Why no Williamsburg?

The question about Mandalay bay lead me to thinking -- we have great options on the concierge program in almost every major vacation location except Vegas and Williamsburg. Any ideas why?

no, idea, but dvc does offer quite a few hotel/resorts through the passport collection for both vegas and williams. although you do have to stay a full week, hmmm, i know as far as vegas you can get really cheap rates at the well known hotels like mandalay bay, paris, mgm, etc. . and if your a dvc memeber you could always rent your points and pay cash for your trip. i just thought, when we were at dvc buying our vacation club, dh did ask about vegas and our guide said wdw doesnt promote gambling, instead wdw promotes family vacations. but as far as williams, i would think thats pretty much a family vacation, been there, and really liked it. i hope that helped you !

We love going to Williamsburg (Busch Gardens), but I don't think I would consider the exchanges that DVC is offering. 1) the choices look a bit "stuffy" for kids and 2) I don't think we'd need a full week there (4-5 days max).

I've not seen any hotels in the heart of Williamsburg that would meet Disney's standards for the Concierge collection (could be wrong on this), although I know Four Points/Sheradon has condo type units next door to the regular hotel. Would be nice if we could use points for that!

We traded for Marriotts Fords Colony in Williamsburg this coming August. It's not in the heart of Williamsburg but I read lots of good comments on Tug. Although we had to reserve it for the week, we're only staying 5 days.

The Williamsburg Inn would be a great choice for the CC. I've been to Ford's Colony but not stayed there. There are thing for kids but not as much as a beach resort. Still, it's a great place and we love Williamsburg. Do a direct exchange so you can get the free golf.

I've never been to Williamsburg, but we have traveled to Vegas many times for business.

Vegas runs pretty good specials on their strip hotels. I would NEVER trade my DVC points for anything in Vegas. Vegas is definitely set up for gambling and not a place I would want to take kids (I'd constantly be saying, "don't look") We just got back from Treasure Island Resort (husband's work had a trade show at the Sands) and we were so glad to get out of there! Tried to sit at the pool to relax and the music was so loud at the pool it literally gets on your nerves. But, they don't want you at the pool - they want you in the casinos!

Friends of mine who are also DVC members used their points to stay at a place in Vegas. I believe it was called Polo Towers or something like that and they said it was VERY nice.

I will let you know how "Polo Towers" are when we get back.DW and I are going with another couple who have a Timeshare at Polo Towers. We have a 2BR reserved from June 13-18. It is right next to MGM I hear.

II has not affiliates in Bermuda. To my knowledge there are only 2 timeshare on Bermuda, both with RCI. One is modestly rated and the other not very high at all.

Dean is there ANYTHING you don't know about timeshares!

I checked out RCI and it was just as I thought. The timeshares in Bermuda are the St. George's club which I would have thought would have been more than modestly rated and the other is the one my father used to own. He let the last two years go. He would have let it go long before then, but he loves Bermuda so much. It really turned into a dump though and one year while I was there with my parents I was in the lobby waiting for my parents when a prospective buyer questioned me. I told her the truth and she walked right out the door.

It's too bad. Bermuda really is beautiful.

Lots I don't know but still learning. Glad to share what I know and have access to. As for the St. George's Club, it's RCI RID (Resorts of International Distiction). This would be like II having a 4* rating above standard and below 5*. I get the impression it too has gone down but that the alure is just as you suggest, Bermuda itself is so good.
