I have a vacation booked for December 2-6. But we are in a two bedroom and a studio, then a grand villa and then back to a two bedroom and a studio. Currently I have to move rooms 3 different times due to the fact that MS is telling me that there are no rooms available at the Boardwalk, the Beach Club or the Animal Kingdom. Does anybody know if Disney only allots certain number of rooms for DVC members. It seems hard to believe that there are no rooms (not a one) available for the time indicated above. Help !!!

December is a very popular time for DVC members and because of that it is possible that all the rooms are booked at those three resorts. If I were going at that time of year I would be on the phone exactly 11 months out to get what I wanted.

Those dates you're referring to are prime DVC dates due to the low point count. So, it is quite possible that many of the rooms are booked. You could try waitlisting to get what you'd like.
Hope all turns out well for you.:thumbsup2
As to your other thought, there are some rooms that are CRO and not owned by DVC at some of the resorts.

update: looks like DisneyTeacher and I were thinking the same thing at the same time.:rolleyes1

December, and particularly early December, is the busiest time of year for DVC booking. Those resorts were booked up many months ago, and people call right when MS opens, on the first day of their 11-month window. The MS phone lines are always nuts at the beginning of January, because people are trying to book their December trips.

It's the combination of low point costs, nice weather, reasonable crowd levels in the parks, and all the Christmas decorations and shows are in full swing.

I'm sorry that you're having to move so many times during this trip, but you were quite lucky to have gotten anything at all. Consider it a lesson learned for your next December trip; book your home resort right at the 11-month mark.

I booked Dec 5 to 11 at 9:00am on Jan 5 (BWV boardwalk view). It's a very popular time, it has been for the almost 10 years I've owned DVC. Not so much for the low points (the next season is only slightly higher points) but it's a great time to see the Christmas decorations and activities before the big crowds hit.

I feel your pain! Not the same time, however, we have a 1BR booked at BLT for 12/30-01/04 but we are homeless 12/31 & we could not get the same view for the 1st so we are also moving 3 times! I'm am so hoping my waitlist comes through but I'm not holding my breath. I think we're going to have to stay off-site for the 31st! Oh the horror!

December 6th is the day they film the parade for Christams, That is why the days leading to that are booked so quickly.

I do not think that the filming the parade has as much to do with it as does the low points to stay during that time period.
Each year that I have been down in WDW during the taping of the parade it is actually done more on the Saturday not so much on Sunday. It can be quite boring as the taping is done in different areas and and the parade is not filmed in it entirety its taped in sections.
The filming makes getting around the MK a real pain, I went once and then avoided the MK on that day.

Lyyne, is correct on all of these points and they are the exact reasons why my family goes at this time.

I always call on the 1st day for the 11 month window to get what we need. I would recommend the same if you can be that disciplined. Just call at 9:10am - I should be off the phone by then. :goodvibes

I'm sorry you had a tough time with ressies, but yes, that is a popular time for DVC members.

Rather than have what seems like a large group of people move 2 times, wouldn't it make more sense to just stay in the 2 bdrm and studio for the entire stay and just waitlist the GV for the entire stay? I definitely would not want to be uprooted twice during my vacation. I like to get into our room, unpack and settle in for the week.

As noted, this is a popular time. DVC does not limit access to members based on an allotment other than to the degree that DVD owns points at a given resort or members have given up points for cash type exchanges. This is a time that has been mostly booked up at the 11 month window the past few years. I hope you're wait listed for various components that will help you not to have to move as much. Please note that units available through CRO are either DVD owned or a result of members exchanges. Same for those available through RCI for cash. Those available through RCI for exchange are a result of members who have exchanged out.
