I would imagine that the electrical wiring in the values couldn't handle the load. Those microwaves draw a LOT of power.
Some of it has to do with wiring. They need to have GFIC outlets with the circuit breakers for microwaves--you can see the reset button in the outlet of the photo of the Garden Suite at BWI.
Most new homes have these in the bathroom and in the kitchen (depending upon building code.) With a GFIC if the circuit is overloaded, or gets in water, the circuit will pop and shut off power thus preventing a fire. When doing home remodels most people will put them in--they're a really great safety feature. (I like the peace of mind the GFIC outlets give me.)
(Ground Fault Interruption Circuit.)
FWIW.
I didn't know that was an option. What was the fee for this?
Thanx
I wouldn't be surprised to see microwaves in the rooms, eventually. Especially at the deluxes and at CSR. Disney always seems to resist these kind of room improvements until it becomes absolutely clear that they have to make the improvement in order to stay competitive.
There was no charge for the microwave at either the GF or the BC - both times we called housekeeping and they brought one to the room (and it remained there for the rest of our stay).
As far as reheating leftovers goes, I once successfully warmed leftover Chinese food using a hair dryer.
Gotta plan ahead better. Ask your server what tastes good coldMe too. I tried eating some left over![]()
cold pasta during our last stay. Yuck!
Disney gets knocked a lot on these boards for their deluxe resorts not being "real" deluxe. Puting microwaves in the rooms would be a step in the wrong dirrection IMHO. I've never stayed at an upscale hotel with a microwave. Lots of expensive "suite" type hotels with full kitchens - sure - but not an upscale hotel. Could someone tell me the types of hotel chains that are now including a mircrowave? I don't really see it as a trend in the hotels I frequent.
