The bottomline for the OP is too realize that the comments, the control, or whatever the mother doles out is all about the mom. It has nothing to do with you OP.
So, lift that burden from your back!
When your mother makes a "rude" comment, sling your arm around her & give her a hug. You will be surprised what doing the opposite does.
It is kind of like calling the "bully" to the carpet. Once you began to expose her weakness she can start to give it up...hopefully. You both will be "free".
