Why minivan so much more than full size?

It seems like a person can rent a full size car for much less than a minivan. Why is this when the purchase price, maintenance, and insurance are probably comparable, or even in the minivan's favor?

Supply and demand!

People who need a mini van are probably willing to pay more since they don't have a choice. A lot of people who get full size could make do with midsize if the price was too high on the full size.

In orlando a minivan will always be higher than a full size due to the fact that the majority of the renters are families with children. (thus the need for a minivan.)

If you check rental rates for LAX (Los Angeles), you will find that often a full size is higher in cost than a minivan, due to the fact that more renters are businessmen who prefer the fullsize to the minivan, which drives up the demand for fullsize cars.
