Why is there so much beach club availability?

Long story short - we've always gone to WDW in the summers when kids are on break from school. They're all off to college next year, so my wife and I are looking at going in early to mid Sept.

I'm legitimately shocked to see availability at both Boardwalk and Beach Club, both resorts which I've always found impossible to book. I know September is a less busy month, but I'm still surprised to see so much 1BR availability.

Is there a catch? I know both resorts are undergoing construction - for anyone who has been, has it been completely disruptive to your trips? Note, I don't really care about seeing visible construction areas or even work going on during the daytime. I live in NYC where it's loud and busy all the time.

its what you said above, it's September, traditionally WDW's slowest month of the year

Yeah Labor Day week and the following week I think statistically are the two slowest weeks of the year. One bedrooms are also the room type with the least demand. Even at busier times of year there's a decent chance at getting a 1BR at either of those resorts.

I just got back from eight nights in a BCV 1 bedroom, the construction did not bother us at all, and was only noticeable in that there was a fenced off section that we would walk by on our way from Epcot to the lobby. They had a lot of trouble with the elevators. One was regularly down and one night coming home from the parks, both elevators were shut down and we needed to carry our sleeping children and double stroller up the stairs.

Our room was super quiet. Other than a muffled sounding crying baby next door a couple of nights, I didn't hear anything. We did one night at VGF BPK and the noise was awful. It felt like the neighbors and the people walking down the hall were in the room with us and you could hear every move of the people above.

I've talked about it a few times on here but yes, BPK is the noisiest hotel I've ever been in, worse than Pop Century. I've never heard noises around me so clearly as in that building. Nothing else in DVC is anywhere near as noisy as BPK in my experience.

This is good to know and I'm glad it's not just me. I don't have enough (any) points left so we're staying at Pop our next trip 😆

BPK was so beautiful though. Are the original villas significantly quieter (ideally, more like the quiet I experienced at Beach Club)?

Yes the VGF building is quieter, as quiet as Beach Club in my experience. I don't like the Deluxe Studios as much as the Resort Studios in BPK though. Beach Club is a gem in the DVC portfolio. The rooms aren't really anything special in my opinion but the resort as a whole and the proximity to EPCOT is great.

Haha, I thought the BCV room was a tired, dated, bland grandma's house on the Cape. No Disney theming other than the curtains and murphy bed. Long hallway, smelled like someone pooped by the elevator the whole week. But that walk to Epcot was amazing!

I smelled the same at BPK. People throw their poopy diapers in the public trash cans and housekeeping only empties those cans once a day typically.
