Why is the George Bush thread closed?

I mean, I know that this is the DIS boards, but are we really supposed to pretend all the time that things are all ponies and glitter and cupcakes? We're not allowed to criticize the President? That thread was actually quite mild.

I'm guessing that plenty of criticism occurs on the liberal thread, so it's not like there isn't a place or an opportunity to express those feelings. Also, I see discussions start on other political threads and there doesn't seem to be an issue with it. Could the title possibly have been considered inflammatory from a conservative perspective??

I think it's a reasonable question. It was quite mild. I would wonder the same thing if a similar conservative thread were locked. Perhaps the OP requested it closed?

I don't blame anyone for it being closed. Obviously there would be no good coming from that thread. We all know how it's going to end and they cut it off before each side could start in on the other.

Problem is, everybody has a different version of "the truth". Inflammatory.

The truth has always been the truth, it's the media who has tried to change the definition of what "truth" actually means, well, that and attorneys.

I guess I was just really surprised. I mean, I've never been on a message board where a thread was so quick to be closed (and I've been on some down and dirty ones).

I've been on some boards that close threads more quickly. But then those boards forbid talk of politics and religion. Completely. To keep from having flame wars as those who post on them can be less mature.

It was probably closed because like most political threads on the DIS it became ugly and therefore no constructive purpose was served.
