Why is the George Bush thread closed?

It was probably closed because like most political threads on the DIS it became ugly and therefore no constructive purpose was served.

If threads were closed due to "no constructive purpose" there would BE NO CB!!

But you know what I mean...political threads generally disintegrate quickly into "the lefties said this" and "the righties said that" and then somebody calls President Clinton "Slick Willy" and brongs up Monica Lewinsky and somebody call President Bush "Shrub" and reminds us that there were no WMDs.

It just gets a little old after a while.

Actually, it wasn't ugly. (I found it and read it a little while ago.) Maybe it might have gotten ugly, but it really wasn't too bad.

I just went to my subscriptions and read it and there was NOTHING there that was anywhere near ugly.

I think it was just a Republican moderator on duty last nite.

I was the OP and sincerely made an effort to be tame.

With the array of political threads on the CB I couldn't believe when I found it closed the next morning. Unless someone posted something truly offensive and it was removed (????) because there is nothing on that thread that I can see that warranted it's closing.

Unfortunately though, it seems this is happening more and more

Political debate is allowed on the boards (I read and or post to most of them), so I don't think closing the thread was a political statement from any of the Mods. Likely someone made an over the top rude remark and/or personal attack, and that's when threads get closed.

Indeed. Now that you mention it, are we even allowed to talk about talking about closed threads?

Don't closed threads constitute a constitutional obligation to support and perpetuate those things that are current and discussed as relevant to those things that came before and will no doubt come again?
