Why is Peter Pan's Flight so popular?

It's one of my very favorite rides - everything about it. It also brings back memories of the Disney Peter Pan book I had when I was a child (a very long time ago!).

My favorite Disney movie happens to be Peter Pan so I do love the ride too.

I took my then 3 year old last year and she loved it and kept asking to go again. We see something different each time.

I like it also because it is classic, is it visually appealing, it has a neat track and cars, it has great music and it is a great adventure story.

I'm a big fan because of the imagineering that went into the ride. I mean, when you really think about it, what an amazing idea! I was 5 the first time I rode it with my folks. We were blown away when you come around the first corner and --"oh my gosh! Where does the track go?!? We're FLYING!!" Very cool IMHO.

What he said.:thumbsup2

My family likes it. It's kind of cool flying over London isn't it.:goodvibes

THIS...

...and THIS.

Ha, you beat me to it. Quoting these same two posts. The Imagineering is great and London is great.

It is a charming ride that gives a birds eye view of that wonderful Peter Pan story. My favorite is flying over nighttime London.

There is just something wonderful about the exaggerated perspective of nighttime London from the air. And I am not even a big fan of Peter Pan and I didn't ride it until I was 20. The entire ride has great artistry and imagineering. This ride is special. No robotic arms and 3D glasses can compare!

I think its a cool ride the way it is setup. It's definitely worth a one time ride if you have never rode it. I however would never wait longer than 20 minute for it. I have a list of rides I'll wait a certain amount of time for and when a time above that time is posted I move on. This would be one of those. Soarin' would be another. 20 minutes or less or I'm gone.

We enjoy it. It is at the heart of being a kid, what Walt's heart was all about and what Disney was meant to be. Walt never intended for it to be a thrill park or similar to Universal Studios. Ride like this, Dumbo, Hunny Pots, Tea Cups, etc will always be special to people who understand Walt's vision for the Magic Kingdom. The wait is crazy, though.

Beautifully said~

-Its pretty- Even my 3 year old was like, mommy everything is so pretty!
-you are flying
-Its nostalgic - Peter Pan has been around for ever
-Jake and The Neverland pirates has given Neverland some new fame over the last 5 years
-its a slow loader
-Its not scary so its good for all ages
-Its been around forever and is very similar to the original version, so once again its nostalgic for return visitors who saw it years ago.
-Its original and pretty, but doesn't have an annoying theme song (cough cough, small world, cough cough)

I hope I'm not offending anyone but I just don't get it. The family and I have ridden it twice. Its not a terrible ride, but I can't say that I think its any better than any of the other dark rides. I'd say its about even with the other stuff in Fantasyland. What is the appeal exactly? The line is always so long.

For us, it is because our family loves the movie. Especially my son. The ride picks some of the best moments from the movie and put that together with the music and it is a favorite.

Nostalgia, you're actually FLYING over everything (still novel to me) and the fact that this version is pretty similar to the one that opened in 1955 at Disneyland....consider the technical feat to do that in 1955.

Yes, yes, yes! To me this ride is iconic. We're here now, and I used one of my FP+s for this ride. It transports me back!

I have such fond memories of it when I rode as a kid 30 years ago. Before the days of HDTV and high res graphics on computers and video games. I remember feeling like I was really soaring over London and was absolutely amazed with the detail. Ride it today for the first time since that visit...and while it wasn't quite as mesmerizing as when I was young...it certainly took me back.

My question today was what is the appeal of the magic Tiki room? Everyone has their own opinion though.

I've never been a huge Peter Pan person and went on the ride for the first time this past summer. For some reason it was just really magical for me and made me incredibly happy. I think being in something flying over all these amazing little scenes and worlds instead of rolling by them gives it a different feeling than the other dark rides. You feel like you're flying around with Peter Pan and that's really lovely.

This is one of our favorite and one I would get FP+ for it I ever used it. It's simple and sweet and like the PP just makes me happy.

There have been plenty of slow loaders in FL but I've never seen any get the kind of line that PP does.

I hadn't ridden it since I was probably 8-9. Just rode it again for the first time as an adult with my fiancé(she had never ridden it). And we loved it the nostalgia for me the newnews to her and the fact you are gliding over the scenes. Idk it's just one of those rides you love without being able to say exactly why. That said we FP+ it and would not wait in the long SB line. Even though I remember waiting in that zig-zag line as child years ago.

I remembered waiting in that line for 45 mins as a 9 year old..riding the ride and thinking, 'I waited 45 mins for a 45 second ride?!'

Well my boyfriend and I just rode it a few weeks ago and it was amazing!!! Its so well done and so much detail

I just want to thank everyone for posting their comments about this ride. I had asked my DH to go through the list of attractions & let me know which rides he wanted to go on. He has some issues that make him not be able to tolerate some of the stuff.... so to make it magical for him, I decided to have him choose. Well, I was surprised that Peter Pan was one of the attractions, and due to what I've read about the long wait times, I was leaning toward skipping it. I had ridden it on my first trip in 1999, but had "forgotten" what it was all about.
Thanks for the "memories" and for reminding me of how magical that ride really is.... and it definitely WON'T be skipped!

I have read the thread and since PPF is one of my favorite rides I asked myself why... the answer popped up... Romantic. I think this attraction is about the only one in WDW that stirs a romantic chord for me. Particularly in the evening when it is dark outside. I wondered if I was the only one who felt this way and so I googled PPF Romantic and this link popped up: http://www.mousekejournals.com/2014/01/25/the-5-most-romantic-rides-at-walt-disney-world/

Apparently I am not the only one that feels this way.

Yes this was always one my favorite parts about the movie, flying over London. Even though it's brief, it one the best parts of Philharmagic too. To appreciate the Fantasyland rides sometimes it helps if you grew up with the movies and going to WDW. They are very tame rides so you have to use your imagination.

It a cute ride, and very nostalgic. Rode it as a kid, liked it, ride it now as an adult with my kids, and like it.

Line wise, I still say, dump the fast pass bit and let the ride move people the way it was designed to do so. It's an omni-mover. The stand by line would be cut in half without the fast pass process.
