Why is Peter Pan's Flight so popular?

I kind of envy those who point to the nostalgia aspects of this ride for them. I never visited WDW (or DL) as a child. I went for one day to MK at age 26 and it was so cold and rainy I don't remember much except how frozen I was. Then again at 42 with two kids 9 and 11 and they thought it was "lame". Last time I rode, 2010 at WDW and 2012 at DL, it started to grow on me. I wouldn't wait a long time for it, but as a PP said, it's kind of romantic.

We enjoy it. It is at the heart of being a kid, what Walt's heart was all about and what Disney was meant to be. Walt never intended for it to be a thrill park or similar to Universal Studios. Ride like this, Dumbo, Hunny Pots, Tea Cups, etc will always be special to people who understand Walt's vision for the Magic Kingdom. The wait is crazy, though.
This exactly! This ride and It's a Small World is why I love WDW and keep coming back! If they ever get rid of these, I will lose my desire to come to WDW. And I am not exaggerating with that statement. These rides are truly magical and something anyone can enjoy. I loved them as a kid and love sharing them with my own kids and would love them if I was alone. these types of rides is what makes Disney DISNEY! You can ride a roller coaster anywhere. And I definitely would not wait more than 20 minutes in line for a roller coaster.

Ok and the purpose of your post was what?

Why is Peter Pan's Flight so popular? 'Cuz it's the best ride on the planet. ::yes:: ::yes:: :teeth:

Okay, technically it's only in my top five. :upsidedow But for me it definitely provides a unique experience. The movement is very different from the boat rides or the roller coasters or the carnival rides. :cool2:

That said, I would not wait an hour for it, or even a half hour. But I do prioritize it so I can get a ride with little wait every time I'm in the MK. :)

I agree with this! While I would not stand in line for 45 minutes or an hour to ride, we always make sure to ride Peter Pan a few times on every trip.

There are a number of reasons that my family enjoys Peter Pan. For starters, my son's favorite Disney movie is Peter Pan. He literally squeals with delight when we round the corner, and he sees Captain Hook teetering on Croc's jaw. His expressions on that ride are priceless, and those looks/sounds of pure joy, excitement, and awe are the reasons we go to to Disney in the first place. Second, I love the soundtrack... it's very calming to me. Last but not least, our Disney trips are always taken in early summer when the temperatures are HOT. It is so refreshing to be on a dark, air-conditioned (soothing) ride.

I'm surprised at all the love for it. The way that most feel about Peter Pan is the way I feel about Small World. My parents never took me on Peter Pan when I was I kid. I went to WDW three times as a kid and never rode it once. Perhaps I would feel differently if I experienced it as child.

Maybe, maybe not. The first time I remember riding it, I was in my fifties. (May have ridden it at DL when I was a teen, but if so I don't remember it.) I do think nostalgia influences a lot of people, but in my case, it just worked for me.

Peter Pan doesn't even make my top twenty favorite Disney movies; none of my kids will ride it without me (although they will do that quite happily); no nostalgia factor, so it's something about the ride itself that attracts me. But I do seem to like it more every time I ride it, so I can see why the nostalgia factor might be huge for many.
