Why is MK closing at 4:30 on Tuesday, February 8th

Oh man I hadn’t seen that. We are scheduled to go to MK the following day. Wondering if we should reschedule now since that seems have to made the park so packed recently when the same situation occurred. Anyone have thoughts or suggestions?

Yes, you should reschedule. MK will probably be more crowded on the 9th because of the short hours on the 8th.

The days before and after the scheduled early closure this week were miserable. Day-of I think the longest wait I saw was 50-60 mins as opposed to 210 the day before. So if you can go on the shorter day you’re likely to get just as much done!

I would definitely plan to GO on the day it closes early. It’ll be much emptier than the day before or after bc people lose their minds and don’t wanna pay “full price” for shortened hours. You’ll get much more done in 8hours than standing in long lines for 12. And then hop to EPCOT or somewhere if you really want more evening park time. And hop to MK another night if possible for fireworks. I know that probably not your ideal plan and requires park hopper but those early closure days are amazing

I agree! Our best MK days in the past were the days the park closed early for a party. It scared many away due to shorter hours but in the time it was open we got far more done then on a day when it was open longer.

I agree with @dbb727 and would recommend going a day the park closes early!

I was there yesterday the day after the 4:30 closure. It was crazy!! I agree, go on the short day, heard it was a ghost town.

We have to go on the day before and it is going to be awful. Ugh. The last time it was a 10 crowd calendar

We went this week on the 4:30 closure day and it was GREAT! People must have gone to other parks because the wait times were fabulous at MK. We had a dinner reservation for that night anyway so it didn't bother us to not go to a park, but we could have hopped to EPCOT or HS. I recommend going on the short hours day to MK for shorter lines. As stated by others, the day before and after are nightmares!

Last week's example of this was crazy. Monday hit level 10 crowds at MK with the extended park hours. while Tuesday was a level 1 with the 4:30 early closure. We went both days. At 3pm, you would have waited twice as long to get Joffrey's on Monday as you would to ride Space Mountain on Tuesday...possibly even longer.

Do they ever shorten hours last minute for parties? If I have a trip planned for March is there a chance they change the hours before we arrive? It shows normal hours right now.

I have never seen them shorter hours but I have seen them exstend hours

Ordinarily I would say you should go another day so you can see the fireworks, but the new show just isn’t worth it, so I agree with everyone else: go the day it closes early and enjoy the lower wait times.
