Why is it so hard to decide DVC AP's vs. 10 day???

Whew! I think that's a good decision for you.

We got the PAP's the first time...used them for 3 trips. Got to use them once for DQ and once for each water park. We discovered that we didn't use / need the water park option for winter trips or on shorter trips that are only a few days. The only time we'll use the water parks is on longer trips in the summer and even then just for like about 1/2 day each. DQ...ummm...we could take it or leave it. So we have decided to save the money up front & just buy the reg. AP's and use the DVC member discount for the water park admission in the future and pay as we go. We will try to plan at least 2 trips on the AP's.

WHEW is right. I literally laughed at loud when I read your response earlier. You know we plan these trips, spend boocoo bucks and yet we worry over such things as these park passes yet go there and spend 100's on food and shopping, actually more than 100's so really in the grand scheme of things...it really made sense to just spend the money and do it. Yeah I am still pondering the PAP vs. AP for the guys.....because I know they won't be going to DQ or water parks in Jan. and in July we are staying at BCV and AKV Kidani so we have great pools. I think you need to go 2 or 3 times to make the PAP worth it as far as the water parks and DQ goes. So we might not even get the value out of those.

Yes that is true too. I am just happy we get a nice discount too being DVC members for those AP's.

So when are you headed back??

Most likely not until mid-August. My disfunctional family is driving me nuts. We invited my parents & my bro and his bunch + my MIL & BIL for an extended family trip to celebrate my parents 50th anniv. rather than planning a big party or something. BUT you know how the best ideas can turn.....

I have been laid off for about 10 months now...still job hunting...but makes it hard to plan TOO many trips (when thinking about being new on a job).

After spending some more time with my brother last weekend for Xmas (my family is in WV) I have decided I hate him so I am UN-inviting him!! He is ungrateful and inconsiderate and I don't need that. Nor do my parents. I could not spend a week with him & his family. Meanwhile, my parents are retired and with the way the economy has been I think they're not in the mood to go either. I told them to decide by January 16 (our 7 mo. booking window for Aug. 16). I think they're really on the fence about going.

NEXT, BIL is in the army (was at Ft. Leavenworth, KS) and ended up just getting hit with another tour in Iraq. He quickly got married to some chick he'd been dating and he left this past weekend for another year! So I sorta hope my MIL just decides we will wait for him to return and plan something then with him & the new SIL for another time. She also has another son (adopted) that graduates HS next summer...dunno when or where he will be going for college...likely tho that mid-August will not work out for him.

So basically, who knows?! Regardless of whether or not anyone goes with us, I want to at least plan for a week in mid-August. If nobody else ends up going then I would like to plan for a 2nd trip sometime or maybe tack on a couple of nights at Vero...but might see if we could trade out somewhere for the NEXT year (I would love to go to Cabo). I just don't know. Montgomery County Schools published their school calendar for next year and they don't have ANY long 4 day weekends planned for 2009-10. Bums. Don't they know they're messing with my vacation plans?! I would love to go again over MLK but want at least 4 nights!!
