I have stayed in Disney resorts a few times, and have for the most part stayed concierge ...that is what it always has been called. NOW, just recently I see people calling it club level...why?

I know it is "Club Level" at the swan & dolphin, but I never heard it called that at Disney resorts...what gives?
it just sounds weird to me!

I would say it's because the Guest Services desks in the lobby of each Resort are now called Concierge Services. So to not confuse the guests by using the same name, it was easier to re-name the specific floors and buildings Club Level.

that is what I am saying, It has always BEEN called concierge now I here, only on hear....club level. I do not hear it at the resorts.

I guess it sound good to some. Who knows? But as one poster said because most of the resort has a concierge desk & it confuses some.

1) Obviously, it used to be called Concierge Floor or Concierge Level.
2) But, it was not truly concierge-style or concierge-level service.
3) There were a lot of complaints from people expecting a high level of service.
4) WDW was forced to change the name for public relations.
5) Not to mention many who wanted and got refunds since it's not concierge service.
6) Typical Concierge services not offered by Disney resorts
. . . rental cars
. . . limos
. . . off-site dinner ressies, including tough-to-get ressies
. . . activity tickets (eg. basketball)
. . . work paperwork handling
. . . mail services
. . . dinner ressies normal methods can't get
. . . flight arrangements
. . . non-Disney hotel ressies
. . . buying personal items *
. . . arranging rooms to suit the guest
. . . getting special food/drink items *
* some items can be acquired, but in a limited way

NOTE: We typically stay on Concierge Floors while on business because we have the concierge do some much work and tasks for us. WDW Concierge does not come close to comparing to REAL concierge service.

The term didn't originate here. It's called club level because that is how Disney now refers to it.

Check out their website and you will see the concierge is now called club level. Here is the text for a quote for the Boardwalk:

Standard Room - Club Level -$641 †
Concierge service at the Innkeepers Club includes personalized front desk and guest services, turndown service, and lounge with Continental breakfast, midday snacks, evening wine and cheese, and evening cordials and dessert. All rooms have two queen-size beds or one king-size bed, table and chairs, ceiling fan, vanity area with two sinks, and bath. Some rooms offer day bed and private balcony. Non-smoking and disabled-accessible rooms are available. Amenities include in-room wall safe, voice mail, data port on phone, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, and refrigerator (upon request). Standard View, Concierge Rooms offer views of a garden or parking area.

So while they still use the word concierge, it's officially called club level.

If you go to the area of the website to compare the resort, it refers to "club-level" concierge and "desk" concierge.

This is ExacTLY what a CM told me the other day!

Unless you're saying that other hotels' concierge levels will get you a limo, rental car, show tickets, activities, dinner reservations, etc for FREE, then all of the above items that I've made bold have been offered to us through WDW concierge (club level, whatever they call it now. lol). :confused3 In fact, I could copy and paste a recent email from the Polynesian Itinerary Planning Office which shows the manner in which they offer to plan all of these things for their guests.

I was only asking, it has always been concierge and I just noticed something different! thanks!

I'd like to believe that it's because it's harder to spell "concierge" than it is to spell "club".

Names for different services get changed all the time. Remember when ADRs used to be called something else?

When I call for rates and availability the CM's call is club level so that is why I call it club level

Maybe they should call it the free snacks room?
