Why is Grand Floridian not included in Deluxe Pins

Why is it the recent pins have the Grand Floridian at a lowerpercentage off than the rest of the deluxes, yet it is the most expensive hotel....

For example,

All Deluxes 35% off (Grand Floridian 25% off)

I suspect the supply/demand has something to do with it. When the discount was the same, there was probably an uneven distribution of guests as people who could never quite reach GF prices before were suddenly in the game and bookings soared. It would seem that because the GF is more expensive, the same % off would create an anomoly where the actual cost of the "flagship" resort would get close to the same cost, or possibly even cheaper than a regular old "Deluxe" [particularly a deluxe where the promo was booked up]....wouldn't do to bring down the branding of the GF!

Mine also said Beach Club only 30% versus 35%...LOL it's kinda funny! We just got the PIN code last night! :)

:scared1:, kind of confused, but are you saying that you believe that "regular" folks booked who would not have been able to otherwise book and therefore brought down the "atmosphere" of what the GF stood for:confused3?
Or are you stating that with the discounts, people were able to afford staying at the GF for the price of what other deluxe resorts were offering and that is not what they anticipated happening, so in order to make sure that the GF stays "classy" as in the flagship name, they discounted it less in hopes that the ones looking for a better discount moved to another deluxe hotel and took the discount there and not bother with booking at the GF, which would protect their "flagship" status:rolleyes1?

Either way, I think I understand what you are trying to say. Not trying to cause confusion or the sort:flower3:

I suppose that *someone* could figure out a way to be offended by my choice in words, if they wanted to :) Lets try this again....no doubt the interenal number crunchers know how many persons total will book onsite stays on any given day, and likely have a "normal" distribution of the rooms, with each hotel having a given number or percentage of the guests. When the normally out of reach GF reached a price point that made it more accessible, there was an unusually high level of demand...the reducing of the discount kept the booking ratios more evenly distributed.

I will reserve my thoughs on someone trying to make it a class-warfare issue, as the reality is there are people who *can* afford to stay in any room at any hotel, and others who can't. Period. Disney offers a large variety of options, so just about everyone should be able to find a place to stay that will work with them. Disney has also choosen, for whatever reason to make the GF more expensive than the other deluxe hotels...be it crowd control, or just plain meaness to a poor person who dreams of staying there but can't.....clearly, the same thought process went into not reducing the rates as deeply as the other deluxes, and has the net result of keeping the hotel "exclusive." As I clearly, from my stay list, don't stay at the GF, I won't speculate on what *regular* folks [whatever that means] would or would not contribute to the atmosphere.

This 25% discount at the GF confuses me as well. We stayed there at the end of June this year and while the poly and CR seemed packed the GF was fairly quiet (Pool, lobby, grounds, etc.). We got a nice upgrade at checkin from a garden view to a theme park view and were told by the Cast member at checkin that the hotel was only at 60% occupancy (The GF had the same discount as the other deluxes). I would think that the GF would want to fill their rooms instead of keeping half of the hotel empty, but for the high prices that they charge, maybe the price is offsetting occupancy rates. I am seriously considering staying at the poly this june because the price is so much lower than the GF with the pin code i received.

I recieved a 20%/30%/40% off Pin back in April or May and was able, at that time, to apply it to our existing GF reservation in December. So we have a "landscape view" (meaning it is probably not worth our time to open the curtains;)) room for 40% off.
