Why is Breakfast so Horrible

The pancakes and waffles by the way are the same ones that Disney uses in the parks and resorts. So that's a Disney-wide thing. It's their recipe. And those waffles have a lot of fans.

The omelet station had onions/cheese/ham/mushrooms/ and possibly green peppers? I only would order an omelet and then maybe some fruit..the bacon to me was inedible, I actually didn't mind the large sausage link, but it tastes like it has a lot of fillers in it, just not asking what they are! And the doughnuts/muffins/pastries/waffles in my opinion are not worth trying to eat..they are stale/hard/tasteless....if there is one thing that could be improved on the ship, it would be breakfast! Why not some breakfast casseroles? You can whip those together with real sausage/cheese bisquick and feed many....homemade cinnamon rolls, those things stay moist when kept in a pan...hashbrown casserole....there are several things you can make in bulk that taste well staying on a heated buffet...and believe me, they won't stay long! But then we'd all be gaining way too much, so perhaps we should be thankful the breakfast is not good. :)

We love Lunches and Dinners but breakfast is just horrible, waffles and Pancakes are like cardboard, sausage is yuk, limit myself to the omelet station, hard to believe, as we have sailed RCCL, Princess and Holland America and the Breakfast's are great.

Hopefully things will be better on the new ships.

Actually i enjoyed the breakfast more then the lunch. Maybe it is just the timing...

Funny thread, I just went a couple weeks ago and was surprised how much I loved the donuts! They were incredibly good!

Yes the doughnuts are good, they are Krispy Kreme doughnuts. The are wonderful the first day or two, but after that, they start to lose their softness. Bacon is floppy.....

I think the breakfast at the buffet leaves much to be desired. I will try the dining room for breakfast on our up coming cruise. I wish i could put the food from carnival on Disney. Or maybe put the service from Disney on Carnival. . . .:goodvibes

One problem with mass-served food like buffet food is that there's an inherent need to keep the food warm for way too long. The eggs and bacon might start out perfect, but cover them with a lid that keeps in all the steam and then put them over more heat and voila: soggy food. I've found that if you *have to* eat at a breakfast buffet, the earlier you get there the better the food will be. Or just wait and watch...when a new tray goes out GO FOR IT.

On my last cruise I was one of the first people in line at BBB and the food was great. Went back for seconds and wow, what a difference! Watery eggs indeed.

I've only been on a Mediterranean cruise...we had no KK donuts! :( The donuts we had were out of some sawdust factory...inedible..my three kids who will eat anything with a glaze on it made a horrible face and never tried it again! :) I'm sure being out in the Med they did not have access to the same foods, hoping the Mexican cruise will be a bit better! :)

Hahah I was just thinking that...where were the KK's on the meds? They should have airlifted them:rotfl:

Mmmmmm....KK doughnuts....just the thought makes my mouth water! Unfortunately, we moved from the South to a part of the country where the closest KK is an hour and a half away!!! The only time we get KK now is when we go on a Disney cruise or visit family. I'm happy to have a KK doughnut even if it is a few days old! :)

Oh my goodness - you guys just made me so happy. They really have Krispy Kreme donuts on the Caribbean cruises? DS6 has a peanut and tree nut allergy and KK used to always be his safe place to go for a special treat because they don't make any nut varieties and doc approved it. We had a beautiful KK store near us where the kids could watch the donuts being made. Sadly it closed up along with the failing economy and now our only choice is to pay for overpriced ones at the local convenience store. If they have KK donuts on our upcoming cruise he will be a very happy kid!
