Why I'm Scared of an Obama Presidency

Hey, you're not the boss of me.:lmao: So let's see, we should all cower in the corner and secretly educate ourselves, or be lumped in with some segment of society who you don't trust?? Alriiiiiighty then!!:rotfl2: You have fun swooping in and educating those masses of "bitter people clinging to their guns and religion, and antipathy towards those who are different".:thumbsup2 :rotfl:

c'est ca!!!! absolutely!!!!!

I usually DO NOT get involved in these conversations. I am ANTI OBama and believe he is BAD NEWS for our country and my skin crawls just thinking about him running our country. It has nothing to do with his race, either!

I recieved the following email and looked into it and it all appears to be truth... just something else to think about!

Re: OBAMA

Think you know who this man is?
This possible President of the United States?? Read Below and
ask yourselves, is this REALLY someone we can see as the
President of our great nation!!!!

Below are a few lines from Obama's books; In his words!

From Dreams of My Father: 'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

And FINALLY the Most Damning one of ALL of them!!!

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

*We CANNOT have someone with this type of mentality running our GREAT nation!! I don't care whether you are a Democrat or a Republican. We CANNOT turn ourselves over to this type of character in a President.

Now some of it may have been said in context with other things, but all of it just makes me very SCARED of his running our nation.

I agree with the poster below!

You should be more scared of basing your opinions off of the outright lies and stretched truths in a lousy chain email.

Holly,

This is the point that I am trying to make. Do you see how easy it is for people to believe this? Why do they? Why is it so easy for them to believe this about Obama?

I voted for Bush because he offered the things that I thought would benefit me. I didn't base my vote on Michael Moore and others. I just hope that most people are doing the same.

There are people who blindly believe crap because it supports the person they think they are supposed to support, or it bashes their opponent without thinking. On both sides of the spectrum. It is a sad but true thing.

I just read on another thread an Obama supporter rallying about how All republicans want to tear down the unions etc So it does cut both ways.

I agree with you 100% It is pure ignorance, in my opinion.

They believe it because they want to.

John McCain was ripped to pieces by George W. Bush in 2000 when they ran against each other for the nomination. John McCain's wife was attacked. It was hard to watch and I'm happy to say that *I* believe that McCain is leaving the dirty fighting and low blows out of this presidential race.

It's too bad the same can't be said for some of his supporters.

I agree with you, Master Mason. It definitely goes both ways.

You are referring to my post as I wrote it. Obviously, I am NOT blindly speaking. Unions support the Democrat running and there is a reason for that. Policeman Union who is my cousin's union, my husband's union, my brother's union, my nephews union, my father's old union and my father was a DELEGATE in his Union, who went to Washington DC to lobby for Union rights, my mother's old Union, etc., etc., etc. They ALL support the Democrat running. Please get it right when you quote me.

Obviously you are doing exactly what you said others are doing. Please know about Unions when you speak.

this is sorta OT, but

Please know that Union's are one reason why the US automaker's are going out of business.

I have many friends and family in Union's. A majority of which don't even want to be in them.

Are you honestly comparing Obama to Lincoln? Lincoln would have been the most hated of United States Presidents had he not been martyred on Good Friday. His rise to iconic status is largely thanks to the very men who wanted to detract from him.

Also, he did have experience. He served 4, yes 4, terms in the Illinois State House of Representatives. Served the Illinois State Legislature before that. And unlike Obama actually wrote papers on the LAWS that governed his state and country, these helped to elect him years later. Spoke out against the DEMOCRATS and their stance on the issues of Slavery and the Mexican/American War.

Not to mention Lincoln was a REPUBLICAN and WHIG party member. But nice try.

And I don't think the Obama camp would appreciate the comparisons to Bill Clinton. You know a campaign based on CHANGE being aligned with SAME OLD POLITICS OF THE 90s.

The discussion is on experience, not party, you're confusing apples with oranges. Experience in a State Legislature doesn't count in my book.

Same old politics? Clinton was definitely not that so where do you get this from?

Not sure about that, including Britney Spears and Paris Hilton in an official McCain ad about Obama is pretty low, not to mention childish.

It's called "special interests." The unions don't "support" Democrats, they own them. They bought them. They paid for them. And they are darn well going to have those politicians do what THEY want when they get to Washington. And what they want is whatever will line the pockets of the union bosses. Unions: necessary in Walter Reuther's day. Today? Not so much.

Pulled this chart off the internet, looks like Obama has MORE experience than Lincoln (cough, cough):

President State Legislature Governorship U.S. House U.S. Senate Age at Inauguration Inaugural Year

Abraham Lincoln 8 0 2 0 51 1861

John F. Kennedy 0 0 6 8 43 1961

Jimmy Carter 4 6 0 0 52 1977

Ronald Reagan 0 8 0 0 70 1981

George W. Bush 0 6 0 0 54 2001

Barack Obama* 8 0 0 4* 47* 2009*
Hillary Rodham Clinton* 0 0 0 8* 61* 2009*

Obama has equal time in the State Legislature, and 2 more years experience in the Senate vs Lincoln's in the house. Where do you get your facts from?

Let them leave their job then. We like our Unions so we vote accordingly. I'm not in a Union myself and like I said, I am at the mercy of my company and trust me, I'm constantly bleeped. Union jobs by me are like gold. People are dying to get into them. We value ours. I'm not going to get into a Union debate. I'm responding to someone misquoting me.

Like Cheney and Halliburton? Oh, the oil industry and Bush?? The tobacco and drug industry? Are u trying to say the republicans don't listen to special interest groups? Are you kidding me? And like I said, my husband would have had his pension taken away, no raise and paying more into his medical if it weren't for his union and they're almost going on strike just a couple weeks ago, so I think so, necessary for today. And I speak of personal experience. And like I said about my job with no union, I am constantly bleeped. So yes, I think necessary. Do I think they're perfect, no, not perfect and some better than others. You vote if its important to you, and it is to us. This has really gotten off topic.

I keep hearing that "Twilight Zone" music and a baritone voice saying, "You're traveling through another dimension…"

I'd like to see you tell that to the policemen here and the firemen and the teacher's and the utility unions here, some of the first responders to 9-11, etc, the iron workers union that was digging out bodies, that their unions aren't necessary. The actor's guild here in NY, etc., etc. Again I'm not going to get into a Union debate.

Let them leave their job then. We like our Unions so we vote accordingly.

Fortunately, in 25 states, they don't have to leave their job. If they live in a right-to-work state, they can opt out of union membership and still keep their job. :thumbsup2

This thread was about Obama...don't go throwing Bush into the mix. It is SOOOOO easy to blame him. I sure as hell wouldn't want to the be the pres in this country.

Argggggh! The teacher's union. Please. Must. Resist...

Someone tell me to step away from the soapbox before I get hurt!
