Just read that Disney has pulled Eeyore from meet and greets. He is one of the beloved characters from Winnie the Pooh for children. Does anyone know why Disney would make that decision.

Deb.

Eeyore hasn't been in regular M&G for a long time. He's at CP. Is that where you are saying they pulled him?

We found his depressive meaner a real downer for children as he doesn't smile and sets a bad example for how we want Disney to be represented let alone the message that represents.

Seriously?!! Eeyore has always been my favorite go to character and love him at CP. He's always my birthday wish to meet and greet. Hope they are not pulling him from CP. :eeyore:

Wow. That was really not our experience in May. Eeyore was the best character interaction at CP. He was being cute (while in character) with the kids by putting their autograph books on his nose and right up to his eyes to sign them (they thought it was hilarious) and pulled his ears up for the picture. He wasn't bouncy flouncy but he was fun fun fun fun fun. That would be sad if he was gone from CP.

And by this argument, Sadness shouldn't be in the park either. But sadness, unhappiness is a real emotion that is necessary sometimes (I watched Inside Out :flower:). I don't think it reflects poorly on Disney or is not what they want to represent at all. In fact, it gives the kids a chance to exhibit empathy. Our kids also enjoyed giving Sadness hugs.

Thank you! We have never found his demeanor depressing. I celebrated my birthday at CP in 2014 and told the CM that he was my favorite character. He stopped by our table four times! He brought me my birthday card and bowed and gave me a big hug. I turn into a big kid around him!

Maybe because he's been feeling depressed lately? :eeyore:

Eeyore distracted my family at Disneyland while our stroller was stolen...haven't trusted him since.

At DL, where characters till "roam", Eeyore was hanging out at the exit to the Pooh ride, we stopped for a few pictures and antics, and walked back to discover our stroller stolen (turns out stroller theft is pretty common at DL...and WDW). Many months later, thief caught, stroller returned (we laughed that our beat-up, stained Bugaboo Chameleon was the one he wasn't able to move on Craigslist), and restitution paid. But my wife and still make a lot of jokes about Eeyore's involvement. Never had this problem with Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear in Critter Country.

The future is not looking too bright for Sadness either...

Calm down folks, it was a just a joke. Playing on Eeyore's sadness and I dare say, the trend of late to find negative on anything at Disney, even a character's demeanor.

Yes yes, it was meant to be sarcastic, along the lines of the typical business-speek that goes around these days. :)

I was trying to come up with his replacement but got called off to a meeting and couldn't finish in time but just came up with one -

"Eeyore has been replaced by Sadness from Inside Out as children love her character from our latest hit movie!"

:D

We saw Eeyore at Crystal Palace on July 5 - alive and well and as adorable as ever. :lovestruc I didn't think there has been anywhere else to see him for a while.

Oh, I know -- I was playing on the fact that some people find him a downer. Maybe that's why I took to him so -- he needs support :rotfl2:
