Why go to Hollywood Studios now?

:):)
DHS is terrible. Absolutely horrible. No reason anyone should ever go there EVER. Tower of Terror is just stupid. Rock n Roller Coaster is lame. Great Movie Ride is just some boring ride that will scare the pants off of kids and older adults with heart conditions. Toy Story Midway Mania will induce seizures. Star Tours will absolutely make you sick and taking non-drowsy Dramamine a couple of days before you go on the ride absolutely WILL NOT prevent you from getting sick on it no matter what you might have heard or read. And what about those shows? Fantasmic is clearly the worst show ever and a complete waste of time. Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast? So reason to watch those if you have seen the movies. Indiana Jones is so hum drum. Character meetings here are a complete waste of time and I'm certain Character Palooza is a big waste. Oh and the restaurants! Sci Fi is just so weird and the food is terrible. An d 50's Prime Time? Why would I pay good money to get told to eat my vegetables and watch them put my husband in the corner for putting his elbows on the table. No thank you. I will advise anyone to stay far far away.

Okay. Maybe now people will listen and not go to my favorite park so that I can enjoy it crowd-free ;) . I love that place. I love the rides, shows, and restaurants. I can spend so much time just walking around and taking in the sights. It is full of memories for me and I always make new ones each time I go. I love the romance of old Hollywood and love how they are able to recreate that on Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards. I'm cautiously optimistic about all of the changes they are making. I'm not a big Star Wars fan but think that the area might end up being something really great. If they put the effort into Toy Story Land that they put into Cars Land it will be absolutely fantastic. I just hope that they don't lose the identity of the park and maybe work to make that theme a little more obvious.
Lol if only we could convince everyone for all of WDW! I could go on the same 'rant' about EPCOT or Animal Kingdom. Different strokes and all that :)

We have it booked for an afternoon/evening for an upcoming short trip...but it will be a packed afternoon. Muppets, Star Tours, Indiana, TSMM, Little Mermaid, ToT, Beauty and the Beast and dinner at HBD. I'm really looking forward to it. Would stay for the fireworks but need to go to bed early due to 1/2 marathon sleep training!

They did REALLY well filling the park with Star Wars stuff after the release of such a hit movie. If I go anytime this year, it would be strictly just for all that (I last went in August and there was no Launch Bay .. and we didn't go to the Back Lot except for the playground for 20 minutes or so, so to me .. they've ADDED stuff to do :)).

The Star Wars stuff alone will bring people there.. :)

Still plenty to do for a newcomer to the park (and even repeat visitors) .. especially if you have a hopper or a 5th day (which is like a $10 more).
Plus the boat ride is a nice way to just hop over to Epcot after you've had your fill at DHS (or vice versa)

I am sure many repeat visitors though will just wait until all the new stuff arrives before a "major" day at the park.

Lol ... DHS is the favourite Disney Park for BOTH of my teenage daughters. We have 10 day hopper tickets for August and will likely visit DHS 3-4 times :scared1: .

I don't go to HS for the rides, I actually only ride ToT and GMR, I can take or leave Toy Story and don't do it unless my son is with me. Can't do RnRR, the force and the jerkiness hurts my neck, never rode star tours but since it's a virtual type ride I'm pretty sure it would make me sick. I still find plenty to do at the park. I love just walking around and looking at all the store fronts on the back lot, going to the book store and grabbing a muffin and coffee, HBD is a must for us (can you say cobb salad and grapefruit cake, of course you can). I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, did the see the original 3 movies (episode 4,5 & 6) never saw the next three to be released and went on Christmas Day to see the new one but only because of Harrison Ford. I do enjoy watching the kids do the little school. I enjoy Indiana Jones but I might be the only one who does. I'm not really looking for the to the whole toy story land, I didn't see any of the movies after the first one. I'm hoping they don't totally change the whole hollywood feel of the place and keeping my fingers crossed that at least they'll keep the main drag. I have an AP and my son gets Military PHs and we tend to hop back and forth between Epcot and HS the last three days of our 5 day trips with only 1/2 day at MK and most of one day at AK. Every night, we are at Epcot without fail. Both MK and AK days tend to end at Epcot.

We were there with our two kids, aged 5 and 8 at the time, in Oct. 2014 and did RP through evening EMH. We were plenty busy, certainly didn't hit all of the attractions we could have, and the only one of the recently reported closures that we did do was meeting Mike and Sully. So, in my opinion, there will still be plenty of attractions open to justify a day at HS.

A friend was at Disney with her four kids, aged 1 through 15, in November 2015, and HS was their favorite park. They went back to that park multiple times over the course of their trip, and she just kept saying how she liked it because she felt that there was so much to do there that appealed to their wide range of kids' ages.

I remember as a child never liking HS becuase to me it was only shows, which is right up my dad's alley. All my sister and I wanted to do was go on rides, so usually if we didn't get time to visit all the parks, this is the one we usually skipped (before Animal Kingdom came along) because we wanted to make time to visit Universal.

Honestly as more things have been added to the park through the years, my interest in it has only grown slightly. I've never been on RnR (back when I wanted to I had no one to go with me and now I am too scared lol) and I don't go on ToT. I was there in October and I still kick myself over not planning out our day better because I missed the BATB show and the Indiana Jones show AND the Stunt Show. Honestly still now I am trying to figure that out because when we went the park wasn't THAT crowded (still more crowded than I would have liked lol) anyway so the most we waited that day was like 20 minutes for the Great Movie Ride.

My sister wants to take a family trip this November, and although I at first agreed, I am trying to discourage her from pressing on. Too many closures (at most of the parks) and although by that time some stuff may be open, I rather not take the chance and wait until most of it is in place. To me, HS in particular wouldn't be a waste per se, but I would just feel like why not go once everything is in place?

With all of the impending closures and construction slated for Hollywood Studios, why pay the exorbitant price to get in for arguably 5ish attractions, 4 shows that have not been updated for the better part of a decade or more, and some mediocre restaurants (Not Brown Derby)? If my favorite attraction wasn't Tower of Terror, I wouldn't even think twice about skipping this park. We are even staying at Beach Club and I don't want to spend the time, money, or effort to trek over there. I'm curious, what do you guys still enjoy about the park? Or have you reached the breaking point like me?

Close to the breaking point for me for the entire WDW property, but not for one individual park. I've been going every year for about 5 years, so I think I'm taking a break from the yearly trips for a bit, until some of the new stuff opens up. If my daughter gets into a program down there, then that will change, but right now I'm OK with not going back until 2017, maybe 2018. I still love the parks, and could find plenty to do in each one as I enjoy the 'slower stuff' but I think I'll save some money for a longer trip or a deluxe resort stay. I'd still go with family if someone were to invite me, but I don't have that need to go back again like I did the past few years.

That said - I like the look of Disney Springs and how that's coming along, and can't wait for the new attractions/rebuilds/new lands.

I'm not sure what the closures are, but to me a trip to WDW isn't complete without Tower of Terror, RnR, Toy Story Mania, Star Tours and Beauty and the Beast. I also enjoy The Great Movie Ride, Muppetvision 3D and the Little Mermaid, although those aren't "must dos" for me. If I had to pick only two parks, I'm not sure I would choose HS, but if I have 3 or more park days, I'm definitely going to HS.

This post if hilarious to me! I absolutely love it. My family also loves DHS!

:rotfl2::rotfl2: YUP. I once posted one of these but didn't have a part 2. Amazed me how I got yelled out. Sarcasm totally lost on some.

If it's still got Fantasmic! I'm there. Also, ToT and Star Tours and Symphony int he Sky (which I haven't seen but hear is great).

If you didn't have the second part, how in the world would people have a clue to your sarcasm?

Kylo Ren replaces Vader. He should draw a lot of fans to DHS.

Really? I totally knew PP was joking before I scrolled and second part showed up. I think mine was obvious too.

We love DHS and my kids even asked me today which day on our next trip we will be there because they can't wait. They love Rock n Roller Coaster, TOT, Toy Story Mania, Jedi Academy, Star Tours, Fantasmic and the Muppet 3-D Vision. We can't wait to see the new Star Wars fireworks show and meet Darth Vader and Chewbacca. I'm sure it will be even grander once all the new areas are finished, but for our family, there is still tons to do and enjoy!

We went in May and the only thing I think changed, from then until now, was closing the Animation Building. The only thing we did there was see Sorcerer Mickey and as I understand you can still see him. We spent the entire day there going on rides and seeing shows. Had lunch and dinner and stayed for Fantasmic, which is my all time favorite nighttime show at Disney. There were several things we never even did. Including the Lights Motor Action show. Bummer.

But my point is we spent a full day had a ton of fun and still didn't see every single attraction. Now they have added the Star Wars M&G so my kids will be all over that as well. Still plenty for us to do to enjoy a full day there.

I was thinking we'd skip HS originally when planning our upcoming trip, but we added an extra day to the trip, and we now have 5-day Park Hoppers, so I'm sure we'll hit Studios at least once. I've only been once, a million years ago when it was MGM, and I was underwhelmed. But still, I'd hate to go to Disney after all these years and not hit every park at least once. We may not stay long, I doubt I could spend an entire day there, but probably one evening would be nice. We're Star Wars fans, and so that's a draw. If they have the Star Wars fireworks still going when we're there, we'll DEFINITELY be spending an evening there!
