Expedition Everest, I mean. There's an AP/DVC preview the last weekend in January, and then just the lucky few who happen to be hanging out in the area will get to ride. If it's ready (and it must be or they wouldn't be letting people on), why not just have an early opening. I guess you can tell I'm going the last week in March and I'm afraid I won't be able to ride it.

I wish they would.
I'll also be there the last week in March and the first week in April.

I agree. We'll be there in Mid March and I'm afraid we'll miss it and it will be another 2 years before we get back. I read somewhere that DL & WDW do ride openings differently. At DL, if the ride is ready it is open daily and the "official" opening is held later. But, I read at WDW the ride is operated sporadically until the official opening. Does any CMs out there know what the plan is from now until the official opening??? (once the AP/DVC previews are over)

It's not necessarily completely "ready" (though it may be). Take Soarin' for example. During rehearsals and previews, guests entered from the backstage area between the Land and Imagination. The queue area was not quite complete and the entrance was still under construction. I pretty sure they used that time to tweak things as well. Also to train the CMs with really for real live guests. We also got a big disclaimer before we entered the building explaining all that to us.

When the attraction is officially open, they don't to have to go through that with guests. I'm sure that the moment that they get everything in place, they'll move to a harder opening. Remember, Soarin' and Mission:Space were both open for virtually-regular business well in advance of their official openings.

I'm going the second week of February. I, too, am hoping for a well-timed sneak preview or something. I know it's a long shot, but I don't think I can afford the detour to AK in September when we go on our Disney Cruise.

I'm gonna guess that EE will be open a lot during feb through March. They just aren't calling it officially open so that they don't have upset folks if something happens and its closed for a bit.

We'll be at WDW 3/24-3/31. Im hoping for a public sneak view, or an AP or a DVC - either will be fine - just let me on please oh please
If not DS & I are planning on riding it 8/12

We'll be there during the preview weekend. Since we are not members, we plan to beg :worship: to be some DVC members guest. Hoping for some pixie dust. pixiedust:

When we were at Soarin' for the AP preview we did use the front entrance. I do remember reading on here how some people were asked if they wanted to try Soarin' and they were lead ro a different entrance. The only thing that was different about Soarin' during preview weekend is they had a wall up and two entrances to get to The Land. You had to show your AP to be allowed to get into The Land.

Are they allowed to do that? I know as an AP holder everyone had to have one or else you weren't getting in. Good Luck! pixiedust:

You must remember that these are essentially shakedown runs. By first having CM previews, then DVC and AP previews, and finally a soft opening they get a feel for how the ride will behave under full ridership after official opening. This way they hope to find and fix any potential ride breakdowns or safety problems before official opening. Just think back to other new rides. Test Track for example, even after all the previews and soft opening they still had many problems. Just imagine if they had not had the previews and soft opening to iron out as many problems as possible.

just FYI the Ride has broken down several times already.

some of the robotic elements haven't worked correctly all the time (biggest problem they are having)

and the cue area isn'tready for public viewing. there were several spelling flubs on thes signs and some of the displays were not finished in the mueseum.

DVC members are allowed to bring 3 guests.
