Why does John McCain hate America?

But Mr. Man,

After reading about Hagee and McCain's lack of clarity on what he agrees and disagrees with Hagee on, it kind of makes you wonder why he hasn't denounced and rejected the endorsement, yes?

Not really. Politics prefers muddy waters.

It is no secret that Sen McCain has made critical remarks of evangelical Christians in the past. He needs to put his hand out in friendship (even if he is personally holding his nose and crossing his fingers behind his back). Perhaps this is part of that.

Like it or nor, evangelical christians are a very large and unified voting block. Candidates ignore this group at their peril.

That's particularly true of politicians hoping to win the presidency as Republicans. It's the reason that McCain only won Texas - after he was all but over the top as the Republican candidate - by getting something like 54% of the vote. He was running against air, and still almost half of the voting Republicans voted agaisnt him.

Also, his acceptance - his courtship - of that endorsement goes an awful long way to putting the lie to his "I'm a maverick...I don't follow blindly whatever my party wants" kind of posturing. It shows him as someone that will subvert his own political beliefs in order to win office. That doesn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence about the man's integrity.

I dunno. I don't share that POV. Integrity has nothing to do with "making nice". We should all try it more......here, I'll give a try (politics style).....

"Sen. Clinton, that beautiful pantsuit hides your ankles nicely".....

"Sen. Obama, I admire the way the sun reflects off of your ears. It gives you such a healthy glow".....

And to leave certain groups in the dust after he gets elected. I'm sure many a Con will have their fingers crossed when they go into the voting booth. ;)

Yeah, that about sums me up....... I think Sen McCain has been too quick to "run to the center" since he started looked at the POTUS position.

He used to be a real "Reagan Man".

Then again, if he can get things done in Washington, and consult his conservative moral compass from time to time, I will be ok.

Sen McCain says his position on OIF could sink his campaign.....I disagree.

His position on illegal immigration (unless modified), WILL sink his campaign.

Doubtful, imho. You have no alternative.......and he knows it. Unless of course the Cons stay home. Which, btw, is alright with me. :teeth:

You'd be surprised...I listen to a lot of talk radio, and not the pundits, but the people are saying they won't vote for him...

some people will cut off their nose to spite their face.

I was just kidding when I said they would stay home. I really find it hard to believe that all but the most hard core won't support McCain in the end, as will the Dems support their eventual candidate. Come November all this drama will be a thing of the past, imho.

I agree. Right now most are fighting for the shorter term goal of wanting their candidate to be the nominee, but in the end they will remember their ultimate goal of wanting to regain the WH.
