Why Do You Visit The DISboards?

Let's share some of the reasons we enjoy visiting the DISboards by poll:

I just picked my reasons and they all boil down to this:
Learning about FL/CA resorts, sharing vacations with others and meeting new friends

I do love the DIZ boards!

Initially it was for the tips...

now some of that, but mostly because I truly enjoy the people here... listening and sharing all kinds of thoughts with them. Whether I know them well or not And I have to say I have some truly wonderful friends who mean the world to me that I never would have met if it weren't for the boards.

Also for tips.

Back in 1997 when I first stumbled across the boards it was only to find info on WDW and of course, I still want info on WDW but since it's been so many years now and I'm still visiting here multiple times a day it must be because I've met some great friends and want to stay in touch with them. I also like to help people and do so whenever I can.

I enjoy being reminded that we are all connected in this world.

When I visit the disboard, I laugh and cry with people I have never met. I am concerned and check in to see how some of you are doing with things going on in your lives. Age, race, religion, gender all have no part of the interaction. (notice I did not say politics. Ha) It's a breath of fresh air and a promise for the future.

I also visit for the Disney experiences, knowlege and recommendations. The disboard is a wealth of information.

Besides all that - it's just plain fun.

When I first started coming here it was to get information and planning ideas for my trips. But over the years (3+) I have come to know a lot of folks here and there are a lot that I count as my friends, so I come here to visit with friends. I also come for advice, support and to de-stress and I hope I give the same in return to others.

For most of the reasons mentioned, except maybe the crafts and scrapping. I came here in early '00. searching for info on our first family WDW trip, a celebration of life, taken in late '99. I wanted the trip to be truly magical. What I learned here help make that come true. And the people here made such an impression on me, I could not not return, to share, and continue to learn. Over the past 5+ years, the DIS has truly become family. I have met many hundreds in person, consider a very good many as good, personal friends today. It is family, truly, family.

It initially started out checking out the great ideas on ways to save money on the Budget board. (anyone else remember the "Magic in a Box"?? ), then, slowly, I discovered there were other parts to this wonderful site!! Places to go to find hints for the theme parks, places to find tips and to read trip reports (not to cause a fuss here, but I liked to trip reports on the CB )....and best of all, a place to go to just 'hang out', discuss anything and everything, brag about your kids (or rag about them, depending on what was happening in real life! ), places to ask for help or to find a shoulder to lean on. A place where "everyone knows your name".

First I was looking for Budget ideas on how to Disney without spending a ton of money.

Than I got a bonus, I found an amazing group of people who listen to other and offer kind words of advise and encouragement. (except for some of the political threads....)

This is a great place to hang out.

Where is "Because I just LOVE lengthy political discussions" and "Because I was looking for the perfect spot to have strangers point out my personality flaws"?

Just joking...kind of.

For the "back porch" aspect. Back in the day, we'd all sit out on the porch and chat with our neighbors, todays equivalent is internet communities. I like my "back porch" neighbors here on the DIS and can't imagine my life without them.
