Why do you go to Disney as an Adult without any children?

I don't see the attraction and 90% of the lines for kiddy types of rides are adults with no children.

The lines to take pictures with characters are insanely long and again 90% of the people in line do not have children with them.

What is the attraction for an adult to take a picture or wait in line for a children's ride??

... because we want to?

I loved It's a Small World as a child, and I'm certainly not going to miss it going to Disney as an adult with no children.

I have a Christmas tree decorated entirely with Tinkerbell ornaments. I wanted to meet and get a picture of me/hubs/Tink for our Christmas card.

Anywho, I love everything about Disney whether it be "geared toward" children or adults and I have just as much right to enjoy things as a couple who has kids does.

Although I have kids, I can at least say I would go to Disney without them most definitely. Disney makes me feel like a kid again, and I would imagine it has the same appeal for others as well. Why do some adults like to collect American girl dolls or model cars/trains? Because they want to and it makes them happy. Not everyone likes to sit on a beach all day fo vacation...I know I don't!

Re-living their childhood?

Real life is hard...and Disney is an escape. Usually those that goes have an attachment to Disney through their past. Its good to re-live their childhood, see the world with the youthful light and pretend for even a moment that their world is ok/their loved ones are with them.

Umm...

This will be my trip with a child after 10 trips as an adult without a child. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a nostalgia factor for a lot of adults. If you don't get it, nothing I can say can convince you. It just is what it is. You either love going as an adult, or you don't.

I never got to go to WDW as a child, so I have to make up for lost time ;) But I don't do character meets really, I only waited to meet Jack and Sally last time because that's one of my favorite movies. If I meet characters, it's at character meals for the most part. I also will ride a kiddie ride if the line is short and it looks fun!

Exactly! I live at the beach... to me it's an annoyance. Sand sticks everywhere, you feel gross the entire time you're there, you truck gets absolutely disgusting, and the water is hot... definitely not something I want to do when I vacation.

I've never been to WDW with a child! My daughter was 15 on her first trip, 17 on her second, 18 on her third and will be 21 on her 4th. I was 34 the first time I set foot at Walt Disney World.

You don't have to be childish to be child-like.

Yup....character meals included in that too.

Seriously though....I can see going to an amusement park for the thrill rides as an adult. But to sit and wait in line for to get a picture taken with Buzz and Woody?

My honest opinion and is that Disney has become so overcrowded that it ruins the experience for the kids and at the end of the day I believe Disney is for kids.

We just came back from WDW with our 5 year old, and are planning a trip without her. We won't do character meals or meets, but we have a long list of things to do that we couldn't enjoy as much (or at all) with our 5 year old.
