Why do some dog owners do this????

You know, I am understanding and I know that animals are well.. a bunch of animals :lmao: And if someone's dog runs and poops in my yard, and the owner picked it up, I would think, "Silly dog... good owner.. " But this gal is standing in the road puffing her smoke and letting her dog go from house to house... so it gets my goose everytime because she doesn't make an effort to clean it up.

And it is a little bitty dog, I don't know how the thing that crap as much as it does :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Just plain rudeness and a disrespect for other people's property.

I like the video camera idea. Even if you never do anything with it, let her know you're serious. Are there leash laws where you live?

She doesn't even have him on a leash? I like the idea of the other poster about picture or video camera.
dmslush-love your puppy!

We live in a small city and they have a leash law but it's not enforced sadly. There are always dogs walking up and down the road and they stop at our house for a potty break. I have 2 small dogs, they poop in my yard and my yard only. We had a pooper scooper but it broke so we have to get another one, but we have poop bags as well.

What makes me mad is the dogs that are 3 times the size of our doggies and the poop they leave would creep in your shoe if you stepped in it. My kids are always washing poop off their bike tires where riding around in our front yard they find a stray dog's gift.

And don't get me started on stray cats....they think my flower beds and mulch are their own personal litter boxes.....like I want my hand in that while I garden!

Where we live, there are ordinances against both having dogs off leash and not cleaning up after your dog.

My own dog is well trained to go in his own yard, and so I can't tell you how much it disgusts me when we go for a walk, and he starts sniffing something another dog's owner let behind. Diseases can be transmitted that way!

If there is a pooper-scooper law in your town, I'd either video-tape this woman leaving her dog's waste behind or ask a police office to be around during her usual walking times. If she gets a ticket for not cleaning up after her dog, it should stop her.

If there are no ordinances, I'd be asking my mayor and/or town counsel to enact them.

I have to say that you're a lot more patient than I am. If I caught the dog in the act, I'd go out there with a bag and insist she clean it up.

My friends have a dog that they walk around their neighborhood. She brings a super duper pooper scooper to pick anything up that her dog does in someones yard but they have had people come out and yell at them to get their dog out of their yard and not to let him poop in it again.Personally I don't blame them. Who wants to come out in their well groomed yard they they have spent lots of time and money to look nice and slip in poop or remnince of dog poop...that's nasty.
I'm a big animal lover but people need to take responsibility for what their animals do-do.....

To the poster with the cat poop problem...
I am getting ready to treat my front flower box with some anti-squirrel/hot-pepper treatment PLUS I'm looking for anti-marking training spray at the pet store. I am SO tired of walking out my front door, smelling cat feces and seeing that the neighbor's free-range-ing cat has left yet *another* stinky pile in my flower bed.
It's gonna be WAR, I'll tell ya...war ;) !

agnes!
PS - One of my neighbors has a sour?sweet? gum tree. I think I might just get some of those "gum balls" and use them for mulch. The stickers on them could feel a tad uncomfortable on cats' paws :rolleyes1 ...

I am an animal lover, I have one dog and two cats. I love my babies, they are my furry little kids.. but I don't let them crap in other people's yards. That is just disgusting. If you see my tag, I have issues with people letting their dog's do a doody in other people's yards.

I am proud of my home, my pretty yard.. I don't want dog poop in it.

I have had issues with this one particular lady on my street. The shelter had to do an order of protection against her for her husband at one time. Since I am the one who goes to court with the clients, the respondents (her) sometimes see me as a homewrecker, troublemaker, if I just minded my own business blah blah.. hey, I do not hunt people down and force them to get OPs.

Anyway, every since she went to court, she has been letting her dog poop in my yard. I will pull up and she and her little furry mutt will take off. Well, today as I was pulling in, she was letting him poop in my neighbor's yard, right beside their steps. Now, these neighbors are a young couple with little kids who play in the yard everyday. Now, who wants their toddler getting in dog poop?? As soon as the lady sees me pulling in, she starts taking off with her dog. I stopped her and told her that we really don't appreciate her bringing her dogs to our yard to do their business and we would kindly like if she would stop this practice immediately. I was very nice, but boy, my blood was boiling! UGH!!!!!!!!! Okay, don't venting!

I am a large dog owner myself, but I totally get where you are coming from. In good weather, I spend hours a day on my lawn and gardens. When my dog goes in my yard, I clean it up immediately. Attached to my dogs leash is a plastic fire hydrant filled with disposable poopy bags, so when we walk and he goes I can immediately clean it up. I do hate carrying it with me if it's a long walk - ugh- but that's my job. I do say things to people who let their dogs go in my yard without cleaning it up. But I also say nice things to people I see cleaning it up and I usually go out and offer to take their yucky bag and throw it in the outside garbage for them so they don't have to carry it either! LOL I wish more people would help me like that. :)

My elderly little aunt could teach all you a thing or two! She works in her *gorgeous* yard from sun up till sun down most days and has enormous pride in her yard. A neighbor has a large unruly dog that won't stop using her yard for peeing and pooping. She's spoken with the neighbor numerous times and is always promised that the dog will be stopped. Nope! She finally got soooo furious she decided to "fix" the neighbor. She waited patiently till the dog finished pooping then went out and got in loaded onto a shovel. She then went next door and rang the bell. When the neighbor answered, she said, "Here....Brutus forgot something and I think you sould have it back." She then dumped the shovel full of poop right at the neighbor's feet and onto his front porch. A little actually got on his feet! Brutus never pooped in her yard again. Oh yeah, the neighbor screamed that she was "a crazy old fool". She got a huge laugh out of this! :rotfl2:

I once sat and watched from inside as a lady let her dog poop on our yard. Thinking shewould pick it up I did nothing UNTIL she started walking away with the evidence still there. I ran outside with a paper towel and bag in hand and yelled at her to pick it up. Then I stood watching as she HAD to do it. I have not seen her again. I don't have a problem if a dog does it (they really can't help it) but I do have a problem if it is left on my property.

I have even seen other pet owners allowing this on houses around the neighborhood and I do say something loudly to my kids (making sure the pet owner hears) like "I can't believe that lady would allow her dog to do that. She needs to pick it up. Don't you ever become a pet owner like that"
Yes I get dirty looks but someone has to protect the neighborhood.

You can always do what I did . I went outside and scooped everytime this one old man let his dog poo in my year . I did this for about a week and then took the gathered poo down to his yard. He and his wife sit outside every evening for about 30 min or so , the visit with the other neighbors and get thier mail , sit there and chat on thier bench . I smiled walked up and smiled and handed him the bag saying " Hi I just wanted to return this to you , you left it in my yeard" To this day the man still smiles and waves when he sees me but his dog uses other peoples front yard now : )

I love it! Back in our old neighborhood, when we had no dogs, an older neighbor who abutted our back yard had two schnauzers. He turned them into our yard, over the back fence every morning when he thought we weren't looking. DH collected all of the poop in a big black plastic garbage bag. One day I was out in the back yard when my oldest DS through his ball and went into the neighbor's back yard to get it. He had a fit. He said if it happened again, he was keeping the ball. I went out there and said, well I have some of your stuff that I have been keeping and I dumped the entire contents of the black bag into his back yard. He had another fit, insisted it wasn't his dogs, etc. But we didn't see the dogs in our yard again.

You want to talk rude? How about installing an electric fence in your yard (can't put up a regular fence in front of the houses in our neighborhood & they have a very small backyard), training both your huge gold labs to use it, then stop putting the collar on them. ARG! Those darn dogs are in our yard all the time. I do not like dogs, hate having to clean up their poop even more! I do not feel safe when we are outside and they are let out. The kids can't leave anything in the yard at all because those dogs will come over & chew up the toy or pop the ball. The people are just dense!

I think that that sort of dog owner shouldnt have a dog if they aren't going to pick up after it. Now, I am sort of a smart a==, and I had someone do this to my yard and I have always had dogs and I put it in a bag, and dumped it on her front step at night. No more problems after that, and I did ask her to not have her dog do that, but she didn't listen.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

I don't mind if other peoples dogs poop in my yard as long as it gets cleaned up.

People in my neighborhood clean up after themselves, and my kids never play in the front yard.

It is the peeing that bugs me...it kills the grass where they pee!

I still don't get how you make sure your dog poops before you leave the house. My dog can just have pooped and then poop again on his walk. He never goes in yards though...he goes on the little aisleways that line the road and I pick it up.

Also, he goes with us a lot whenever we go out...so when he is out all day, he HAS to poop somewhere!

I remember once, my daughter just got brand new tennis shoes...just purchased the day before, and she stepped in dog poo and it STAINED. It RUINED her brand new shoes. It went up the side and her brand new white shoes were permanently stained red. I would NEVER leave poop somewhere. No one wants to see piles around anywhere or to step in it. That is just disgusting.

We are having a problem with pee burns in our front yard. I've only seen poop a couple of times, but it ticks me off when I have several yellow burn spots on my lawn. There's always near our tree or along the edge of the sidewalk, and they are a pain because I have to reseed and it takes forever to grow back. I wouldn't let my kid drop his pants and pee on your lawn, it's not ok for your "kid" to pee or poop on mine!

I never gave her the chance to poop or pee when we went for walks. We kept moving.

reminds me of a neighbor we once had.

she would let he little dog run around the neighborhood all the time. One day I was ab out to let my dogs out in our front yard (we could not have fences so the dogs had long leash runs that we put them on, supervised of course). Her dog was pooping at the base of my front steps. My dog Sandy pushed passed me and took off running after the little dog. The dog ran home and my dog proceeded to pee in the ladies yard. She starts screaming at me "Oh look now my dog will start using my yard. I'm calling the pound". I told her to go right ahead. Considering the fact that my dog chased her dog out of my yard, if one dog was hauled off, them both would be.
For awhile you'd see her walkin the dog on a leash and still letting it poop on other peoples yards. Before long it was running the neighborhood again. Eventually I think it ran off, was taken or picked up. We saw her walk around every day for 3-4 days with the leash, calling for the dog.

Was she actually upset that now her dog would start using her own yard? :confused3 If so, that takes the cake!

yep.... she went on about how her dog was trianed not to use her yard. I told her I knew that because it always used mine. That is when I told her to go ahead and call, since her dog was pooping in my yard when my dog ran out of the house. She really thought just because my dog was bigger ( not a big dog by any means, 35 lbs) that only I would get in trouble.
