Why do people claim Elvis is still alive?

I was born after the whole Elvis phenomenon so I'm not quite up on the history and details of his death. I've heard so many stories of people denying his death, saying that he's still alive. Why do people believe he is still alive? Was there complications with body identity? Is it just fan obsession not being able to accept the death? (I guess that's the option that makes sense to me) Don't want to offend anyone I just wondered why there is some confusion.

It's sick... I think this explains why the word "fan" comes from the word "fanatic".

nope I saw Elvis in BK a few year back
and DH & I were in Walmart checking out & I saw Burt Reynolds
Bad rug, nylon running suit, glasses, & gold watch & everything
& I told DH look over there Clem that there is Burt Reynolds
Shame was he wasn't with me when I saw Elvis

LOL..Living in Memphis when the old boy croaked was something else to see. My Dad had a business client who's son was one of the 2 EMT's called to Graceland to pick up Elvis's body.

Not only can i promise you he's dead......they had to get help carrying him out 'cause he was as big as GRACELAND!! The story is when they got to the house and were takne upstairs by his girlfiend, I think it was Ginger Alden at that time, Elvis had been dead for hours.....

I met him a handful of time when I was a kid through a friend who's father was on ther security detail. That was over 30 years ago when Elvis was still Elvis.....I'm glad I didn't see what had become of him before he died.....

The day after he was laid to rest the Memphis Police caught 3 guys trying to steal his body! That's when his father got permission to bury him in the back yard......So now Elvis, Vernon and Gladys are all buried out back by the cement pond......hehehehe

The same reason why 2Pac is still living...I firmly believe that he is still goin strong and chillen with Elvis even.

I live close to Memphis and have been to Graceland countless times over the years and I swear EVERY time you go in the house someone says "The reason you can't go upstairs is because Elvis is still up there!" I'm not talking about people joking...they BELIEVE IT!! Some people say hes a vegetable, some people say hes just hiding out....I think they are all crazy!!

I was 5 when Elvis died so don't know much about just how popular he was and just how crazy fans were back then but they still hold vigils (did I spell that right?) there...Tony can attest to that I'm sure!

I will say this though, Graceland is GORGEOUS at Christmas Time! Wonder if Elvis helps decorate.
