Why do dogs feet smell like Fritos????

Oh...MY...GOD...

I thought our dog was the only one! YES, his feet smell like Fritos (and his breath smells like dead mackerel!).

No Way!! Our Mickey's breath smells like fish sometimes too!!! Oh by the way, totally on the Frito train. Our lab mix smelled like fritos his whole life, we never noticed it on our collie until our lab passed away. Then all of a sudden we could smell it more strongly on Mickey. I actually wondered if it was a dominant dog smell.

The fish breath is just GROSS!!! One day, Mickey licked my crocs (the shoes, not the animal) and when I went to put them on the next day they smelled like dead fish. It was NASTY!!! Glad to know my little stinky isn't the only one though!

My collies sometimes have the mackerel breath too. DH has gotten into ancient Roman re-enacting and discovered Romans were particulary fond of a fermented fish sauce called Garum (sp?) so he started calling the dogs "Garum-breath Frito-toes."
The breath is better when we remember to brush their teeth, though.

OOOO my gosh, soo funny my doggies breath smells like FISSHYYY too...she licked my hand the other day and my hand reaked...I was like UGH thats gross...but i love her anyway...here is a pic of her in her Cinderelly costume...

See now, I'm the camp that insists Fritos smell like dog feet.

When I smell that smell, I always think did someone just take off their shoes or is someone eating Fritos?

We have 3 dogs and their feet smell like Fritos. One of our 3 cats feet always smell like hair conditioner due the fact that he (Walter) likes to sit in the bath tub!
