Why do cats follow you into the bathroom?

::yes:: Yep, our cats follow us in everytime too! I don't even close the door anymore, I leave it open a crack so they can get in. Otherwise they'll be scratching at the carpet. And I always have an audience when getting out of the shower.

I think cats like the bathroom because it's cool. Mine love to sleep in the sink. Here is a funny website:

Thanks for the website! I may have to submit some pics there.

When I first got Galaxy I had a terrible time trying to litter box train him. But since he loved to follow me to the bathroom I decided to put his litter box in there beside the toilet. Every time I had to go I would take him with me and put him in his box. He was trained in no time.

He loves to play in the toilet water so I have to keep the lid closed.

Awww, that's a cute site.

Both of them like to drink from the faucet, yet they hate baths. One of them loves to see the toilet flush.

Following me into the bathroom would require her getting off the couch!!! Ain't gonna happen!

when we got our kitten she was only 8 weeks old--very small but pure white

just beautiful :goodvibes

anyways DH had just finished using the bathroom when here comes Jasmine flying up on the vanity when she loses her balance and slides right in the toliet----

as its flushing!!

DH said he just scrambled to get her out of there--she was small enough that if we would have had a strong flush she would have been gone

what a horrible thought that is

I'm soooo happy it turned out a happy ending! And that your hubby was quick to react!
It reminds me of a story my sister just showed me yesterday where a cat got his head stuck in the garbage disposal in the sink!! Poor thing was in shock by the time they got him out but he's fine now.....
Isn't it interesting the different things cats/kittens can get into....simple household things turn into something dangerous that could easily injure/kill them.
I'm very glad both incidents turned out OK...

My Ally sits on the toilet bowl while I brush my teeth. For some unknown reason, she bites on the flusher handle. Now she knows how to flush the toilet.....in the middle of the night....and scare the crap out of me. :)

Ally follows me into the bathroom purely to annoy me. She comes in and stares at me. Then, she jumps on the vanity and stares at herself in the mirror. Then, she decides she looks OK and starts crying to get out.

If I don't let her in with me (knowing she'll just want to leave), she sits out there and cries and sticks her paws under the door trying to get to me. Who can let that go on?? It's too much to take. :guilty:

Our kitty goes into the shower and watches you. It's a little creepy. If you don't let him into the bathroom when you're there, then he puts his paws under the door and tries to open it.

I guess now, I feel lucky that I get some privacy! In our bathroom, the toilet is behind its own door. Tigger never tries to come in-he just sits outside the door and as soon as you come out, he jumps up on the counter, meowing for his drink of water. Good thing water is inexpensive around here-I'm afraid I've left the bathroom sink running more than once for him.

I have two cats, Boots and Scandals and they both do this. Boots has to lie on my feet whenever I brush my teeth or put on my makeup in the morning. And they both jump in the shower as soon as I'm done. Which I really don't understand because they hate getting baths, but love the wet shower floor.

My two come out of nowhere the second they hear me enter the bathroom. Our bathroom door is easily opened even if you close it, so they just barge right in.

I don't understand it at all. It's like some weird cat habit that defies all explanation because most of them do it. ;)

Our cats are rarely seen anymore. Brutus has taken over.

Yep, between Simon and Petey it's a family affair in the bathroom. Simon is another one that loves to jump on the seat and watch it all swirl around but get a drop of water on him and you'd think he was the wicked witch of the west :lmao:

Simon is the world's best alarm clock too. Every morning, anytime between 3:30 and 4am he starts meowing for his breakfast. If the bedroom door happens to be closed and he's on the other side he'll throw himself against it, making a sound that sounds exactly like someone knocking on the door. Dh usually gets up around 4am. It's really annoying when his starts whining at 3:35 am and Dh wants 20 more min sleep. This morning I rolled over and it was 3:50 and I shook Dh and told him "your alarm clock is meowing" :rotfl:

oh yeah... If I do close the door, Dakota sits and cries until I open it and let him in. Malibu reaches up and opens the door.

If I don't open the door, all I see is little kitty paws underneath!!! :cat:

Euri always comes into the bathroom when I'm using the toilet.

I don't let them in the bathroom when I'm in the shower, but I always have an audience when I come out. However, the first time I saw a black tail wiggling under the door, I almost had a heart attack. Without my glasses, Annie's tail looks just like a snake.

This made me laugh because it's so true. :rotfl:

My cats will pitch a fit if I go into the bathroom without them. When I come out, they are sitting outside the door waiting on me with very sour looks on their little faces.

Cats, dogs, kid..... they all seem to think it's time to visit with Mom, and they all get an attitude if I close the door with them on the other side!
