Why did it take me so long to start watching The Office?

happyrebster- I totally agree with you on the more gray areas in the American version. Lee never stepped up to the plate and set a marriage date... Roy did. Roy asked Kevin to play at the wedding, made a joke to Pam about their honeymoon... shows he is actually moving ahead, planning for it. Obviously she should be with Jim. But they are not making it as clear a path as the BBC one.

I really just don't know what they are going to do from here. I'm sure these writers will make it work, but it'll be interesting to see how they are going to stop Pam's wedding, and continue the Pam, Jim tension. I'll be disappointed if Pam goes through with the wedding (to many American shows don't see the wedding as the end of them chasing other people... ie Friends with Ross and Emily, Rachel triangle). And as much as I want to see Jim and Pam together I don't want them to rush that either. We've already seen as much contact between Jim and Pam as we did in the entire series between Tim and Dawn.

As far as the dream of more, I think we have seen that some. Jim encouraging Pam to take the graphic internship, Jim turning down possible advancements because he doesn't want this to be more then a job. With as fast as they are moving the relationship storylines, the redundancy and office closure ones are moving muchj slower. I'm guessing they'll continue to expand on those themes.

I have to ditto this. What a way to finally wake up and realize "This is the man who really "gets" me? My true love!"

*sigh* :lovestruc

Besides which: How adorable is Martin Freeman?? Anyone? :cool1: :cool1:

Martin Freeman is totally adorable and made more so in the movie Love Actually

He is the reason I saw Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

I do agree about the gray areas in the US version v. the UK. Dawn needed to get away from her fiance, he even made her an illegal immigrant to Florida :scared1:

I loved the complaint episode too, how funny to hear all of Dwights complaints against Jim, "whacked my own head with the telephone" :lmao:

Have you seen the BBC show "The Robinsons"? It airs from time to time on BBC America "Underground" -- more of Martin being Martin . . . the "loveable loser" character that suits him so well . . .

Total agreement from me On Hitchhikers and Love Actually!

I liked the complaint about Dwight's desk moving closer and closer to the restroom all day . . .

I loved the finale - Jim was actually crying when he told Pam!! I love him - I would so take him over stupid Roy.

I agree with this. I'm a guy who is very loathe to be "moved" by a tv show, but that moment had me a bit. What a great bit of acting by John K. It's tough to pull that off without seeming weak. He did it perfectly. As for the writing of this, I thought it was just about perfect. If you had a crush on Pam, and I must say she is extremely cute (she was downright irrestible at the poker night, teasing/flirting/winking with Jim), you have to make a move that night. No guy in his right mind would have not told her his feelings at some point on that night.

I love this show. I thought it was pretty dry at first, because they just seemed to focus on Steve Carell's Michael character too much. He's funny, but the ensemble cast is hysterically funny together, and that has steadily gotten more focus over the season, rather than just Michael. Great writing, great timing and delivery, and some great chemistry between a few of the characters. It seems to have it all. Rainn Wilson is absolutely killer-funny. He's playing about the same role he played in Six Feet Under, when he played a creepy, nerdy mortician/make-up artist. He's not much different in The Office, except that he gets to work with other comic actors his equal. I'm hoping there's a future between Dwight Schrute and that blonde, hateful woman. Those two keep me laughing.

It just seems like every week some character who I never noticed sitting in one of those cubes has a "coming out party" and makes me laugh. This week it was the HR guy and the fat guy who had his wedding band (OMG was that video hilarious!).

Okay -- I have checked on www.nbc.com and on itunes, but cant' find any info about when the web episodes will start. Does anyone know?

I am having withdrawal already!! :)

I thought I heard either sometime around June or during the summer. That's not completely fact so don't expect it then.

The best part about Dwight's complaint about hitting himself with the phone is when Michael reads it and looks at him like "What the heck?"

I'm very tempted to figure out this "macro" and rig someones computer to say something like "diapers" tee hee

Thanks demented. I will try to make it until then!

BTW, I am also now in the Pacific Northwest and recently from So Cal. Big change, huh? This winter was rough! :sad2:

Oh man I have never had a winter like this one! SoCal was the mojave desert compared to here. :)

I am happy to say I successfully pulled an "updog" joke on one of my friends. Next trick: Nickels in the handset! :teeth:

There was an article in this morning's Scranton Times on page 1 about a sign that Dunder-Mifflin company "sponsored" that is hanging in front of Scranton's City Hall. Evidently, Dunder-Mifflin has "joined" the Scranton Chamber of Commerce, too.

:rotfl2: Funny.

What is "updog"? :rotfl:

Well I was so happy when I checked future recordings on my DVR and next Thursday they are repeating "Halloween" and "Sexual Harrasment"!!! I think Halloween will be on at 8:30 and Sexual Harrasment at 9:30!! Two classic episodes.

"Who has two thumb and hates Todd Packer? THIS GUY!"

I heart Jim :) Yes, probably the most obvious statement in the world.

I LOVE THIS SHOW!
I use to work in a office that was excatly like this. So much so that once my boss had a Casino night, and one guy stole all the chips & won all the prizes. On the season finale this same thing happened.
I can go on & on about the similarities.

However working for a real "MICHAEL" is HORRENDUS!!!!!! :scared1:

I read an article like that, which talked about how close this show hits to home for some people. It's probably why it's so popular...because it's so true!

DISUNC, I would suggest taking up "pranking other office mates" It seems to pass the time by! ;)

I AM THE PROUD INVENTOR AND PATENT HOLDER OF "pranking other office mates" :thumbsup2

According to Brain (Kevin on the Office) th webisodes will air on July 13th!! Yay, at least they have a date set! So it's only a month or so of complete dread!

Awesome! Does anyone know how they will distribute? I am assuming that they will be sticking with itunes . . .

i love the show, but i never remember when it's on.

the best part is that my grandparents are from scranton and i lived there for 2 summers while taking classes at the university of scranton. man, it is like exactly how they portray it. haha.

my dad gets a kick out of the show too. he grew up in scranton.

the best part of the finale was the rock band scrantonicity. haha!. :lmao:

Wow that's so awesome! I think the show is so great because they portray things pretty close to true life!

The webisodes will be on the NBC website to watch. I hope my computer will be able to watch them. lol

I'm excited to rewatch "Halloween" tomorrow...I haven't seen it in a long time and it's a pretty important episode as it has Michael actually having to fire someone. lol and he has two heads...

I am so ticked right now - had the PVR all set up for both episodes(two of the few I do not already have taped ) - and today, I see our local affiliate decided to put on an hour of Will and Grace instead of "Halloween"!!!! No offence to Will and Grace fans (it is a great show!), but all we have heard for the past two weeks is "Will and Grace" - can't I have my office as planned!?!? :confused3

so not a happy camper!!!!!!! :sad2:
