happyrebster- I totally agree with you on the more gray areas in the American version. Lee never stepped up to the plate and set a marriage date... Roy did. Roy asked Kevin to play at the wedding, made a joke to Pam about their honeymoon... shows he is actually moving ahead, planning for it. Obviously she should be with Jim. But they are not making it as clear a path as the BBC one.
I really just don't know what they are going to do from here. I'm sure these writers will make it work, but it'll be interesting to see how they are going to stop Pam's wedding, and continue the Pam, Jim tension. I'll be disappointed if Pam goes through with the wedding (to many American shows don't see the wedding as the end of them chasing other people... ie Friends with Ross and Emily, Rachel triangle). And as much as I want to see Jim and Pam together I don't want them to rush that either. We've already seen as much contact between Jim and Pam as we did in the entire series between Tim and Dawn.
As far as the dream of more, I think we have seen that some. Jim encouraging Pam to take the graphic internship, Jim turning down possible advancements because he doesn't want this to be more then a job. With as fast as they are moving the relationship storylines, the redundancy and office closure ones are moving muchj slower. I'm guessing they'll continue to expand on those themes.
