Why did Disney’s Dining Reservations go from 180 to 60 days

Some Dining reservations seem to be so much harder to obtain at the 60 day mark than the old system when it used to be 180 days. What was Disneys reasoning for changing this

Presumably because, since reopening, they don't know 6 months out how much capacity they'll have at a given location.

They just announced a few character meals returning just over 2 months from the announcement date. Had they had 6 month ADRs, they'd have 4 months of people who thought they were booking a different meal than they'd actually end up getting.

Availability is probably due to the fact that many WDW locations are still not running at full capacity, rather than the change in reservation windows.

What was Disneys reasoning for changing this

As far as I know the answer is "the pandemic" but I was not in the room when they made the call.

Another issue was that many buffets were converted to family style meals, which meant that guests would not be getting the same experience. A shorter time period for getting ADRs would allow for people to change their dining style as reopenings occurred without actually booking them so far in advance.
