Why can't we use our Vouchers?

We have vouchers (round trip to anywhere in US) from Airtran.

We are trying to get a flight in April of 06. We've been waiting for flights to become available and now they have. We are fortunate that the dates we want are not black out dates.

Airtran is saying that the flight for vouchers are full, but the plane has not yet been booked with flights. Or that the Marketing department that allows voucher seats has not allowed any, as of yet.

Does anyone have any experience regarding this, so we can attempt to use these round trip vouchers?

Airlines allocate very few and sometimes no seats on flights in exchange for FF miles or R/T vouchers. If they do, you need to be calling the day the flight first becomes available, sometimes booking the first leg and then the return when it becomes available. My experience is with Delta and American and you need to be on it right at the 331 day window. Seat limitation is usually in the 2 - 4 seat range per flight, but I have seen times when no seats are available for popular flights.

This is why I suggest not giving up your seat for standby in exchange for a voucher. They are very hard to redeem. Unless of course the voucher is a monetary amount that can be applied to a purchased ticket. Ie. a $200 voucher is easily applied to a $250 ticket....in my experience with Delta.

Stories will vary by individual and airline, but this my $.02! :rolleyes1
