Why cant we be friends?

i hate seeing people bad mouth each other and say bad things about each other, especially on political stuff. I just want everyone to be nice to each other and just not argue because its going no where. Just think Christmas is coming up! lol

I don't like it either. I have posted on pro Bush sites, but have stayed away from Kerry sites to give his supporters some distance. They need to hear from me like they need a hole in the head.

I think most posters are with you in this wish. Unfortunately, there are a few who seem to come to this board specifically to argue, bait and insult. I have no problem with someone expressing an opposing view but do not understand the need to make it personal and insulting. I know several of the regular posters to the Kerry thread are feeling very unwelcome on the DIS today. We are concerned that the fact that we went "public" in our support of Kerry will make us the targets of many of the more abrasive posters.

I have to tell you all that I LOVE the pics of your children. I think that they are all gorgeous. Someday I'll have children and show you all wonderful pics too. Not trying to hijack your thread but just had to share....

Nonsense! We are all here for one thing....to talk to and share with others. Don't ever let someone scare you away. I have always enjoyed reading your posts and will continue to do so. We have way more to discuss than the fact that you and I supported different candidates. I say, big deal. We can't all agree on everything in life...that would be boring. Anyone want to sing Kum-Ba-Ya with me?

I wish I could believe that everyone is here to have fun talking and sharing with others who have at least Disney in common. However, there are a few posters who seem to get some kind of satisfaction in baiting others. I know this happens on every forum but it's just so much more unexpected here that I think it is harder to ignore.

I know we're not going to agree on everything - and that is fine as I definitely would find it very dull if all the posts were of the "I agree" and "What you said" variety. I really didn't intend to make this a political thread but today it seems like so many things come back to politics, at least for me. I have seen posts from people I had thought generally above the pettiness say things like all Democrats are cowards, we need to "get a grip", and that we're whiners - the last two on the Kerry Supporter thread where we had tried to stay away from the debates. Unfortunately, some could not resist posting to say "ninny ninny ninny" or worse. There were, of course, posts by Bush supporters offering consolation, good will, etc. but unfortunately it becomes so hard to see only the good when there are so many who are obviously enjoying our sense of loss.

ETA - I hope in a week or so I'll be able to join in the "Laughing Place" again.

I want to be friends - but I think I am going to take a break from the Community board for awhile. There is just to much negative feelings right now - and I will admitt that I am feeling some of them.
