Why can't carriages be stored under the bus?

Instead of bringing them on the buses and talking up alot of room? also, I don't care for my knees getting banged when they are walked down the bus aisles. Why can't they all be placed under the bus in a cargo area like ME does? This would also allow more people to get on the bus because the carriages often take up space that people could stand!Just curious!:surfweb:

The transportation busses at WDW does not have storage available under them. I also can see that if they did start using the same ME busses then the amount of time it would take to load and unload them would get other guests pretty hot. :) I mean it is sad to see people get angry when someone in an ECV has to get on the bus, just imagine the outrage when the bus has to take the time to open the underbelly and add strollers, and then what about multiple stops trying to find yours in sea of strollers stored there :)

I think we will have to live with a few knee knocks :)

or people grabing the first stroller that looks close to theirs & taking off then you have the people who had theirs taken looking for theirs
The Drivers would have to take peoples word that this is ours - think of the stuff people put in strollers

No space under the bus
Would take a long time to stow the strollers
Would take a long time to unstow the strollers
Liability for damaged strollers

Most people with big strollers are considerate of fellow riders. Yes, there are a few that don't really care but they are in the minority. Getting my knees knocked by a stroller while riding a Disney bus is the least of my concerns after a long day at the park.

Exactly. My concerns are:

1) Get me to a pool.
2) Get me a drink.
3) Get me another drink.

Not necessarily in that order!

There is no cargo area.

1) Even if they had a storage area, let's talk about liability.
2) I can hear the complaints and lawsuits.
. . . your cargo area dented my $2,000 stroller *
. . . your handling damaged my $3,500 stroller *

* Actually a $25 Walmart umbrella stroller.

How about the liability of "I tripped over someone else's stroller because Disney forces people to carry them on the bus, rather than providing the safer option of putting them in a luggage hold?"

As stated above, there's no luggage hold. It would require a complete replacement of the current buses - something Walt Disney World is not likely to do.

How about a little personal responsibility? Don't trip. Look where you're walking. Stroller holders keep control of them.

I think I'd prefer that they get double decker buses than a storage area.

I can see it now, I am the 1st one on the bus so my stroller(s) are the 1st in the hole. Now I am staying at POR which has 4 drop offs and of course I am getting off at the first bus stop... do we see what I am getting at:) Will not work. I think a better idea is to load the bus starting at the back, this way banging into people would happen a lot less. Unless I know the bus is not going to be full I head straight to the back doors and stand with my stroller(s). I also ask the driver to open the back door so I can just get on and stand there, especially those narrow isle buses.

You can't enter the bus from the back door unless you are in a wheelchair or scooter or accompanying a guest with at wheelchiar or scooter. Strollers do not enter the bus from the back.

Probably because they would have to buy all new busses. I sure wouldn't want to wait an extra 20 minutes to load a bus because the driver has to take 10 strollers off the bus, then another 20 minutes loading the strollers on the bus.

Disney doesn't force anyone to carry a stroller onto a bus. They can drive a car instead, or simply not use a stroller, or rent one in the parks. If someone chooses to bring a stroller onto a bus then they should be the ones keeping control of it, and the ones liable if someone else trips on it.

The luggage hold would open up a whole different can of worms. Then Disney would be liable for the strollers being damaged, or stolen because they forced the owner to reliquish custody of their stroller.

Disney uses the same buses that NYC MTA does. NYC has been using them for decades. Taking a bus anywhere in the world always runs the same hazards. It's public transportation. Ride at your own risk.

That is up to the bus driver. Many bus drivers will open the back door for somone with a large stroller rather than have them lug it up the steps and then down the aisle. But, they allow only the person with the stroller to board through that door.
It always amazes me to see how many people, not even in the same family, charge after that stroller carrying person...just to try to get a jump on everyone else by going through the back door. The drivers will usually just let everyone on board, then open that back door for the very large strollers.

If someone trips over, or is otherwise injured by, a stroller on a bus, the injured party will sue Disney not the person who brought the stroller on. Why? Always sue the deep pocket!

It is naive to say that the person who brought the stroller on is responsible if someone is injured by it. Although that may be true, since it is Disney's policy that strollers are to be loaded into the passenger areas of buses, it is Disney who will be sued if someone is injured.

It does not matter that the person with the stroller could have driven or, indeed, could have been more careful.

What matters is that Disney requires that any strollers of persons riding on the bus be hauled onto a bus and held -- unrestrained -- in the passenger area of said bus. That is the way the law works.

Just sayin'

Why is it the person who possesses the strollers fault if someone is negligent in watching where they are going? The person who tripped also could have driven. Why is the blame being placed on the stroller and not anyone else?

Really??? With all to worry about, you're worried about hitting your knees on a stroller? Or tripping on it??? Yes, it is the responsibility of the person holding the stroller to keep it restrained. But it is also the responsibility of riders to watch where they are stepping.
