One thing I haven't seen mentioned, is people that put down cash for room charging, thats what we do.
Good point -- but I have mentioned that at least twice in this thread.

#1hockeymom said:(for anyone seeing further into this, my son's AP was still good when we checked into CBR so we had no problems with getting the AP rate. It was mine that had lapsed by a month and a half.)
I thought it had to be an adult AP holder to get the room discount rate...

I figured out of I go to Tim Horton on the other corner and spend $1.40 on a large coffee, that's an extra $1.60 daily savings and I'm still getting my caffeine fix. So I put $3.60 in my jar everyday as opposed to $2.![]()
I set that money aside as spending money so it's one less thing I need to worry about and it's money I don't even miss.![]()

Nope. You can use a child's ap. It isn't like they ever ask to see it anyway.tone.def said:You got an AP rate on your son's AP card??? I thought it had to be an adult AP holder to get the room discount rate...
Twice I was happily shopping at DtD and the CM at the counter would not call the hotel to approve the new limit. They said they could not do that. Each of those times I went back to the Poly front desk and was told that they are indeed supposed to call the resort to okay another $1500. I even told the CM at the World of Toys this and she would not do it.

If it makes everyone feel better, My AP and my son's was still good when I made the reservations. Since we weren't going in November or December I let mine lapse when it came due in November. His AP was still good, and mine was as of 30 minutes after check in to CBR. Thank you to everyone who answered for me!![]()
BTW>> My son has only ever owned an adult AP, even though he is years from being an adult.

I've had CM's at Mousegear and WoD before call (2 times out of about 25 visits when I've put additional cash on my account) One of those two times, my key card had lost it's magnetic properties, and had to be re-swiped, and that was the cause of my problem.
tone.def said:If a child's AP can get you an AP rate - then that's good to know!!! I wasn't tearing your post apart, it was amazement as that was something I had been previously told by CRO - it has to be an adult pass to book rooms.
Do I have to put a happy face or a little jumper for my posts not to be taken in the wrong way?![]()
Then here - hooray for child's AP getting discount rooms!![]()
That's the same thing that has happened to us, so I don't understand why some people are having to go to the front desk to clear out their account?YCFAN said:I hit my $1500 preauthorization at YC while in the hotel gift shop. All they did was ask if I wanted the charges to be processed and they could set up another $1500 preauthorization. I didn't have to go to the front desk, call or anything.
I was told this was not a limit, they told me it was only the amount they preauthorized with the credit card company. I specifically asked about getting rejected if I charged something back to the room over the preauthorized amount and they said as long as the credit card would accept the charge it would go through. HTH
I didn't even think there was a limit! We always leave our American Express card. Last year we charged $1900 to our room and I don't remember having to go to the front desk, I thought they did it automatically!

The one time I did ask to speak to the manager and he told me the same thing. He wouldn't do it. That time I was at that sports store at DtD. The CC I always take to WDW has a$50,00 limit on it. Not that I've ever used that much! LOL! Anyway the card wasn't the problem. It was the $1500 that the resort puts on it in the first place. You shouldn't have to ever go to the front desk but it really depends on the CM. As we can all attest to, you get a different answer from every CM.
DVCconvert said:Well you must have spoken to a young inexperienced manager....resorts tell merchandising TO call (It's in the companies best interest). I also use a 'high end card' at WDW, and I have yet to spend 100K there!....you may get a different answer, but the correct answer is that the stores are supposed to call.
After spending 140 days onsite in the last 4 years I have come to that conclusion.
DVCconvert said:Well Terry, I've spent that amount of time or more in that timeframe, I guess we need to agree to disagree, as we share such opposing experiences.![]()
Why are you making this into such a big deal? We both had different experiences.
