Yikes, they seem to have skyrocketed. I'm searching and searching for early February. It's just me so I can get something small. Has anyone used NUrental? I've never heard of them and they are significantly cheaper

Keep checking back and plugging in discount codes. Even the majors will have sales and also their rates keep changing.

A subtle disadvantage of using local rental agencies is that, if you wanted to pursue a claim or escalate a dispute, the closest location where they do business and therefore where you could file in court could be hundreds of miles from where you are (like at home) at the time.

There is a February car rental thread where a few people have posted codes. I only needed a 4 day rental, compact car, and the best rate I found so far was $135. I'll keep checking though.

Sometimes, renting a car for the entire week is cheaper than a few days. Check the price on a week. If it's cheaper, rent it that way. You can always turn it in earlier than what you rented it for.

I just posted that I have 3 reservations- 1 thru Alamo for $171 -(compact) 1/22-1/26, I thru hotwire/ Dollar(compact) for $135 and one thru Expedia/Dollar( Special compact or larger) for $117. I have never rented thru either Expedia or Hotwire and need to know people's experiences. TIA
