Why are boys 2nd class citizens with Disney?

I am a mom to 2 girls, and we LOVE princesses around here. princess:  However I tend to agree with you. We often go to WDW with my best friend who has 2 boys and while he is ok with the whole princess or mickey, minnie goofy, chip and dale thing he would LOVE (and so would DD) a meal with Toy story friends, Jungle book, Peter Pan and the likes.

I don't know why Disney hasn't gotten this one together yet. It would be a big hit. I think they will cacth on in the future. With our luck it will be after those boys grow up!

summerrluvv, I belive there is a treasure hunt with Peter pan you can sign your kids up for ($) I know my nephew did it about 5 years ago or so. (He was around 10 years old at the time.) Not sure if they still do it. Some one else might know.

I also remembered hearing about the POWER RANGERS That would be great as well for a DB

I would love to see a Buzz or Mr. Incredible themed breakfast! My boys would LOVE that!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I hate power rangers (always had, I was a preschool teacher back in the early 90's.) Now that I am a mother it is one more reason I am happy I have girls. I mean can't stand those guys and now Disney picked them up. YUCK. I wish they would just go away. They are very "undisney" is you ask me. I would so much rather have Toy Story. Power Rangers don't belong in the parks at all, even if some shirt and tie at Disney bought them to get in on the marketing. Honesistly I think it is the same as Disney picking up Bratz. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ohhh..yeah the Pirate Cruise, DS did that and I almost forgot about it. I meant for the WOD store though in Manhattan. Something for the boys there ;)

ITA!! The Power Rangers don't feel Disney-like at all to me!

Disney has the whole Space/Star Tours theme to work as well. I tell you that if Disney did something like a Star Wars breakfast at MGM park, the boys would go nuts! We would never get our son out of the park ;)

What a great idea! They might have some illegal issues about that with Lucas, but if they could work them out that would be a hit (with more then just pre tween and teen boys!) My DH would love it.

I also really think they should change Sci Fi dine in to house of mouse and show cartoons. It would be great. My DD wants to eat there, but I know she would leave in 2 min because of the movies.

My boys would go CRAZY over this and I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Lucas doesn't want them to do this sort of thing but omg, it would be soooooo popular!

My DS is only 2 1/2, so it's not that big of an issue for HIM yet...but it is for me and my DH! We'd LOVE to see something NOT princess! I know the princess stuff sells...but it's really a bit much!! They started the whole "adventurer" toy line...they could do SO much more with that in the parks! And I really do think it would be successful! I know DS will be happy in December dining with Pooh & the gang and Mickey and the gang, but I know Pooh will only be "cool" for so long with him. He already adores Buzz!

Hey Skuttle - just had to comment that I love your little Murray Wiggle! LOL.

I am wondering if they could try to work out a licensing agreement with Lucas? :confused3 Not only would they get lots of boys attending, but girls like it too (i,e Princess Leia).

In the end, I don't think boys drive purchasing the way girls do, or at least pandering to boys doesn't seem to drive purchasing the way pandering to girls does.

Just look at the price increase at CRT. I think you could have Buzz Lightyear arrive by crashing through the roof, and it wouldn't get as many families to pay those high prices, but Cindy and a couple of girlfriends have kept CRT booked solid for well over a decade, and probably will keep it pretty-well booked even at the new higher prices.

I know this is still (Girlly )but I heard the NEW Fairies are going to be at 1900 Park Fair some time soon replacing Mary P.

Who are the NEW fairies ?

I agree. I have 3 boys and they think that princesses are "yuck"

I try to be positive about it like we're saving money on the character meals and have more money to spend on other things :)

I have 4 girls and while they like the princesses, we *all* believe that Cinderella gets too much attention, sorry Cindy!

That said, my 6yo DD would go NUTS for a Toy Story character meal and both younger ones are over the top at the Stitch b-fast we're going to in Dec.

I really think it does boil down to economics. Females drive purchasing. If it were up to the men, each and every attraction would NOT end in a gift shop and most men I've seen will take their boys "on out" while mom and/or girls are left shopping.

I think this is the #1 reason there isn't a boy centered character breakfast. Disney probably feels that the Mickey centered ones are good enough. They tried with the villians breakfast but that scared too many kids so it wasn't popular. Disney wants to make money, and the Princesses are cash cows.

Good analogy.

I agree with alot of what is being said here but I still think that a Star Wars themed meal would do awesome business if they could get the clearance to do it and my guys, for one, would be at the front of the line for that one!

I'd love a Pixar one - my son is only eight months old but he loves Nemo! (It's the colors!)

DS 11 was happy with Lilo & Stitch @ O'Hana.
Stitch is his favorite.
I do agree with you.
Way to much for the girls.
To little for boys.
