Hiya -

A sensitive subject, but have noticed that the UK short form of because keeps getting *** out.

I use it all the time and can't for the life of me come up with ANY thing that it could possibly stand for that would be that bad.... I get so annoyed that I have to keep going back through my posts *because* I don't want to have *** littering my posts - looks like I might be swearing all the time, and I'm really not like that:snooty: Anyone know why? - probably best to pm if it IS that bad...

I have wondered for a while, not a word I use but I see it quite a bit on here.
Only thing I can think of is meaning #10 in the Urban dictionary, that would explain why its not allowed to be used on a US site but we don't know about it. Just Google the word then urban dictionary after it, its the one about Bill Cosby.
If its not that then no idea.

...or #4 :rolleyes1

I have absolutely no idea what it's all about BUT my American friends get past the *** problem by spelling it as 'cuz'... :thumbsup2

see this thread
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1828365

the reason is because the abbreviation of the website that they are talking about is *** and a lot of US dissers were banned last year for bashing completly innocent threads on there.

Hope that helps!

Wow, thanks - stepping away from the safety of the UK board :goodvibes into the outside world of the rest of the DIS can be scary sometimes :scared1:

wow, i looked it up on the urban dictionary and well you learn something new every day !!!

now I understand.

:lmao: I thought you'd mistyped ADR's as A double S in your title for a minute there :lmao:

:goodvibes

Probably the bad spelling and grammar police ;)

tee hee..... I love that idea.... a regular Lynne Truss amongst us...

As for the Urban Dictionary - I think there are probably quite a few of those reasons in there - made me blush to even look......;) there are words for things in there that I didn't even realise were things in the first place.... (and I'm in my mid 40s!!)

Cheers guys - knew someone would know.... the DIS has many uses :goodvibes

It's because of a DIS hating website with those initials.

Start posting on the wedding boards and you'll learn all about it real fast.

:rotfl2: I did that! Actually it wasn't by accident - I was abbreviating something else. Typed in the initial letters of All Star Sports (leaving out the small p at the end) and it had stars when I submitted my post. Totally innocently, I added another post saying don't know why xxx showed as stars.... and promptly forgot about it. Only later did I realise what it would have looked like - and it didn't help that it was in capital letters! :lmao::lmao:I spent days constantly checking my PMs to see if a moderator had sent me a caution. All I can say is it was one week I was VERY relieved to be British and on the UK boards! :rolleyes1
