Who's the guy in the sky?

He was flying over back in August when we were there and my friend who is a CM said that he had been flying over for quite a while before that! :teeth:

SO -- tell me again -

Is this 6 page thread about a theme park attraction?
....or is it about a strategy?

My dd and I were in Emerald Island Kissimmee over the Columbus day weekend. We saw the skywriter and he was writing out Jesus just as we were leaving for the airport. I thought it was great!

*****well said: someone called this one guy a freak - then the rest were more than willing to lump THEMSELVES in with him..look back through the thread ..everyone else was saying "that makes me a freak" or "proud to be a freak" - things like that...not the other way around...*******[/QUOTE]

Personally, I just consider myself a Christian. I consider people who fly airplanes into buildings to be freaks.

You know I have nothing but respect for the Christan religion, ok that's not entirely true - but I have nothing but respect for everyone's right to hold to their own religion.

I do however have a problem with having other people's religions jammed down my throat in fifty foot letters over Disney World. I mean let's be honest how many of you saying "Count me as one of those freaks" would be happy if he was writing something like "Praise Alaha" or "The Goddess is among us"?

Seriously? I would not have a problem with it. Would I be happy and say "Look kids! Praise Allah" Or "How awesome - Praise to the Goddess?" No, I would not. BUT... I would not consider those messages being "shoved down my throat" either.

Most people know that as Christians we are called to tell others about Christ. What he did for us and the love that he has for ALL of us (even those non-believers). But, what some people may not get is that most of us really want to spead the word! Why? Beacuse I have lived my life both with and without God. And the joy and happiness that I have in my life with God present makes me want others to have the opportunity to feel and experience the same thing!

I teach love for all people to my children and DH and I try and live our lives with that in mind.

I think some people have this stereotype in their head on what and who Christians are... and it aint good. That breaks my heart. So many people grew up in churches filled with mean, bitter and hypocritical people and base all their understanding on the Christian faith on that. I dont blame them, but thats not who "We" are.

We are just normal people. I dont go out standing on the street corner yelling about "Etrernal Damnation" and the like. LOL! Trust me.... they are in the vast minority!

All the Christians I know are kind, loving people. Far from perfect, but trying to achieve, every day, to be a little more Christ-like.

I know my post is rambling and filled with spelling errors  (LOL - more of that imperfection :) ) But, I just wanted to "try" give a little "insider" information.

okay I have refrained but now I will weigh in as well.

First off, I am a devoted and Fatithful follower of Jesus Christ.

That being said......

We live in America and in America EVERYONE has certain rights. Those rights include the freedom of speech and religion. If this guy wants to write messages in the sky than so be it. If someone else wants to wear a T-shirt or have their entire body tatooed with demons that is their right too. If a gay couple wants to tour the world, that is thier right as well. If there is a tall prayer mosque in Epcot than that is the perfect example of that country's heritage and it is our right not to go in if we chose.

We must teach our children acceptance of others rights. We do not have to accept thier beliefs or practices as our own, but we do have to accept thier right to them. The lack of knowledge breeds intolerence. I for one would be happy for all of these opportunities so that I may teach my child that all people are not the same and our forefathers and now fathers have fought for the right for that to be so.

May we all find the peace to live together not as freeks or nutjobs but as human beings who care passionately about one another. And if in your little corner you want to pray for me, I welcome it but could you also pray for our world, that each and every person would be able to find peace and through that peace, faith.

...You really should be ashamed of yourself..

This is a sad and completely illogical thing to say. There is no shame in praying and the only thing you are successfully expressing is your annoyance coupled with an attempt to imply that you have a great right to be annoyed and anyone who disagrees with you has no right to any opinion or feelings about the subject. Just as Robin attempted to convince everyone that her anger is someone else's fault, essentially saying that since her opinion of the situation is negative and she indulged herself in anger what was actually happening was that someone else was doing her psychological harm.

It is really ironic that people want to make inflamatory comments like calling other people freaks and then can't cope with those people's reaction. Many on here have been as positive as they can be in expressing their feelings and opinions, even to the point of essentially saying that it is fine with them if that is your opinion of people who believe in the Bible including its teachings on sharing that belief; they will wear the lable proudly. But some of those in the negative camp can't let it rest at that or even let it rest with just some further comment for their position, they have to try repeatedly to inflame the discussion while claiming that it is the fault of those in the opposite camp.

It's a free world, he can do what he wants as long as it's legal. But, I think it's in poor taste. I think proselytizing is intrusive and rude and don't want it on my family vacation. I respect people who live their life and let me live mine and if I have any questions about their religion would tell me all about it -- but don't force it upon me when it is not wanted!!!!!

I can't believe so many Christians (I'm assuming) on this thread have said they are proud to be "self righteous religious freaks." Being self righteous is NOT a Christian trait AND is something Jesus himself spoke against constantly. Be proud to be a Jesus freak if you want (though the term is circa 1990 and not easily understood anymore) but don't call yourself self righteous and be proud of it.

How sad that people are proud of being that kind of person... it just gives Christianity a bad name (for good reason).

OP - we saw the guy. I think it's a poor avenue for evangelism myself but he must have the money to blow, time to blow, and feel strongly about it. To each his own, I guess.

You too have proved you have no idea where other people are coming from. :sad2:

I guess that when this guy read "go, and make disciples of all nations," he thought it meant "go skywrite over Disney World"

I agree that it is intrusive and like grafitti.

Spreading the word does not mean getting in people's faces. Thankfully some Christians actually understand the difference.

It must be nice not to have to understand the other side, not to have to understand why it is a slap in the face to many. How we can be reminded of hate and violence by a message of love.

And what many Christans fail to understand is that by telling me all about your faith, even after knowing I don't want to hear it, it is an imposition on my faith. I also resent the way most Christans feel the need to tell me about their faith. It's not enough to simply educate - but it must be delivered with the force of a fist through hellfire and brimstone and "did you know you're going to hell" type speak. That is when it's not litterly being shoved down your throat with a fist (I spent a week in the hospital for no other reason then a "Christan" found out I was pagan and felt they needed me to force me to see things their way.) This need to "spread the good news" is the same ideology that led to the crusades.

I don't base my beleifs soley on what I have seen from others in the faith - though that alone is enough to make me run screaming in the other direction. I do know quite a bit about the religion (having at one point been a Christan) and what I found was that I had taken the red pill and I just couldn't go back to buying into the Bible. Too many contradictions, too much mysogny... as a Female, feminist, ****, who prefers to think of a female deity form - I thought Christanity was probably a really, really bad place for me.

If those types are in the minority, perhaps those who are in the majority should spend less time "spreading the good news" and clean up their own house first (own house - referring to the church and other so called Christans, not necessiarly you, and your own home).

You know, all the Chirstans I've known have been kind loving people too - until they found out I was diffrent... then it got ugly. Have you tried doing something they didn't belive in? Or seen how they react to those who are say maybe of another religion and proud of that - or maybe even ::Gasp:: gay? (The other time a "wonderful" Christan Lady sent me to the emergency room.

Yeah - trust me I know of spelling errors... and grammer errors.
I speak much better then I perform grammatical type skills.

To be fair, this gives me the same right to speak my mind, thougts and beleifs. Even when it's about a nutjob sky writer who makes me uncomfortable - and makes me feel bad :wave2:

Actually I consdier people praying for me agianst my wishes - a form of energy assault. Just another method of trying to force their will upon me.

It's really ironic that the largest religious group in the country feels the need to play the put upon maryters when they enjoy more rights and privleages, both legally and socially then any other group. You can't be the predominat group and be opressed.

That said - perfect example of Christans wanting to play the Marytr - nobody called Christans freaks - except the Christans! People called one sky wrighting nutjob a freak and the Christans started jumping up and down going "me too! Me too! I'm a freak - count me in the freak club!" and now they're acting put upon like it was done to them :sad2:

Another example would be the supposed war on Christmas. They want to spout off about how large of a majority they are and still pretend that the small minority could have that kind of effect without other Christians on board.

This thread has officially reached the limit of pointless.

My last statement to all of you out there who are non-christian is this.......not all Christians should be calling themselves as such. If you met a Christian (as a non Christian) who truly acted like they should, within their faith, you'd love them as anyone else.

Spreading the word, through clouds or anything else is simply a creative way, within legal limits, and considering people's views to spread a message. Nothing I saw with this sky writer EVER suggested anything negative. In fact, if it didn't say the word Jesus in it, most people would be lauding this gentlemen for what he says.

It's obvious that some hate Christians, and I understand why. As a Christian I've often told my wife that the way Christians react to things such as homosexuality and moral issues is why people hate them. If Christians did as Christ wanted, he'd accept those people in and he'd live amongst them, teaching of his values. Shoving people out and screaming at them is NOT Christian. Too many people here know too little about the faith and are listening to the Main Stream Media and Televanegalist to get their perception of a true Christian.

It's sad because personally I can get along with ANYONE and be respectful with ANYONE. I have a very unique situation of being able to talk religion with my Muslim professor in a loving way. She even hugged me one day. It's a shame that most people can't do that. That goes for both sides.

I think everyone should be more educated about others before coming in and calling others nutjobs and things like that.

Things like that are not allowed, or should not be allowed, because on any given day the message could be different and you would be the one complaining on what you or your kids saw.

But we can allow a muslim paryer tower in EPCOT. Tell me this isn't right in your face.

Too bad a wind can't blow it away like the can a peaceful Jesus message.

what is wrong with the muslim prayer tower - and why aren't you citing the church in Norway as well.....
