I guess I am a freak too, but then again I would rather be a freak than a pagan.

I am staying out of the debate because I see something in both sides, but I just have to comment on this. Where is the 'love' in this statement? Talk about rude!

The love is for Jesus.

Did anyone see the sky writer who's been hovering over Disney the last few days?
I haven't seen the skywriter, but the aircraft does cause me to wonder. I was under the impression that Walt Disney World was located under a "no fly zone," because of security reasons.

While I appreciate the skywriter's apparent motives, I am a bit disturbed at the idea that it is now OK to fly over the resort.

I wonder if this thread would be different if the skywriter had scribbled 'Allah Akbar' across the Florida sky? At any rate, this is yet another fine, enjoyable Friday thread the likes of which pops up here from time to time. As a religious skeptic, I enjoy watching others argue over who has the best imaginary friend.

He was there during our trip Sept 23-30 as well.

Seems like he needs a job.

He was there 9.23 ---> 10.3, too.

You know I have nothing but respect for the Christan religion, ok that's not entirely true - but I have nothing but respect for everyone's right to hold to their own religion.

I do however have a problem with having other people's religions jammed down my throat in fifty foot letters over Disney World. I mean let's be honest how many of you saying "Count me as one of those freaks" would be happy if he was writing something like "Praise Alaha" or "The Goddess is among us"?

 You can count me in as one of those "freaks!" too!

Happy and proud to be a part of THAT club :thumbsup2

I'm praying for you, robinb.

See? Now thats just being snide.

:sad2:

Just because we arent "Jesus Freaks" doesnt mean we need prayers.

Oh goody, so now I can't look at the beautiful Flordia sky because some religious freak feels the need to deface it?

As for being exposed to "other people's beliefs" - there are a lot of religions out there that figure your faith is between you and god and don't feel the need to protholize at all, much less by doing it in such a blatent and obnoxious fashion.

You wont hear me expousing about my religion unless you ask - I just wish everybody would have that kind of respect for everyone else.

Everyone is exposed to "other peoples" beliefs in life. We just need to be tolerant of one another. This guy is a bit unconventional in his delivery, but it appears that he wants to deliver a message of peace, acceptance and love.

Just ignore it, if you can. If you can't, well then that is another issue. ;)

The answer was already posted above you. It's perfectly OK to take to imply there is something wrong with the Muslims and Pagans. :rolleyes1

great point! :thumbsup2 thing is - you don't even have to offer this extreme example to KNOW the direction these very same people would take this thread!!!! Even the most positive and loving message from ANY other religion/belief would evoke a VERY different response from most of these very same people!!!!

I don't want to see skywriting advertising of any kind......

Umm you could always turn the channel - and get a device to keep your child from watching things you don't approve of - not quite as easy to avoid looking at the sky...

Of course if you can honestly say you think that someone could sky write blatently pagan words in the same manner and not be attacked... well then we can talk.

If we as a society have to accept (have tolerance may be a better choice of word) freedom of speech, advertising, etc, then I think that it is only fair that it work for all groups of people. If Christians should not share the gospel openly for fear of offending somebody, then non-Christians should not be able to have sex on TV, advertise drinking or smoking, curse, etc......

I posted before you removed your post :thumbsup2

Nobody said Christans are freaks - on the other hand...
You can't say that skywriting religous messages isn't outside of the normal...

But if someone was to write something along the lines "Praise Allah" most people's reactions would be a lot different and he pbbly wouldnt be flying around... and pbbly someone would think a terrorist attack is imminent. Oh, well. popcorn::

OK, I'll admit it. I saw him in Epcot a couple of weeks ago and have to admit, I thought he WAS writing Praise Allah. I saw the "Praise" part, then it looked like he was forming an "A" and I said to DH, "if that says "Praise Allah" I'm running for cover." I was not joking, either, I was genuinely scared.

I was also under the impression that all of DW was restricted airspace, so I thought the person must be doing something wrong to be there to begin with, and I honestly did think it might be a terrorist attack. Maybe that makes me ignorant, but it's how I felt at the time. :(

Nobody called Christans Freaks, or Nutjobs - they called one Christan a freak and a nutjob.

On the other hand I wouldn't be any happier if a member of my religion decided to get sky happy up there either.

And what bothers me isn't so much the proffesion of a strong beleif, but the knowlodge that even in America where we are supposed to beleive in freedom of religion and and equality amongst religions, even if we wanted to - someone of my faith couldn't do the same thing.

All this so called message of love does is remind me that there are yet more freedoms, and rights that I am denied. (if not legally this time, then in fact socially by threats of violence)

And for the record,

What I find amusing is, those who sit on here calling people who are Christians nutjobs and freaks are the same one's who preach patience and understanding for other religions and sexual orientation and then turn around and lump all christians into one basket and toss personal attacks at them.

Yep, and this would be the reason I don't respect the Christan religion - because it tends to have very little respect for anyone else.

*****well said: someone called this one guy a freak - then the rest were more than willing to lump THEMSELVES in with him..look back through the thread ..everyone else was saying "that makes me a freak" or "proud to be a freak" - things like that...not the other way around...*******

Yes, I think I would also use the word "freak". Or perhaps "nutjob". I don't need Jesus shoved down my throat when I am trying to enjoy WDW. Too bad gas prices are going down.

What I think is that the website comes off as a little strange. Every link you click on it asks if you accept Jesus/God as your personal saviour. Well that's fine and dandy, but once you click THAT link it tells you nothing of what you originally wanted to find out. It's just strange IMO. Like, yes I already believe in God and Jesus so this is just wasting my time, I want to find out more info on the guy doing this. Maybe like a story or history about the pane or the project.
