Who's the guy in the sky?

Interesting... Disney is restricted airspace that you have to get special clearance to fly over, so I'm kinda surprised someone has been able to do this repeatedly.

The only airspace that is restricted is directly over the Magic Kingdom. All the others are open. When I saw him last March he was well to the South of Disney property but the sky writing is so large that it gives the illusion of being directly overhead. It looked to be over Epcot when I was there but it was obvious, upon consideration, that it was to the south of that.

You have got to admire, regardless of your beliefs, that kind of dedication and obvious expense.

God loves you so much that He is writing love letters to you in the sky. His love for you is so big that it could not be put on a piece of paper or on a TV screen God doesn't want you to miss his message, so He is writing it just for you on the sky that He created. His message is this: He Loves You! He wants to do great things for you, both in this life and in the next.

Yes, I think I would also use the word "freak". Or perhaps "nutjob". I don't need Jesus shoved down my throat when I am trying to enjoy WDW. Too bad gas prices are going down.

Not completely true. They have a block of airspace 3 miles in diameter around Disney World and up to 3000ft. Aircraft regularly fly over below 3000ft when they're talking to Orlando (no "special" authorization is required, in fact they're quite often directed to fly over Disney).

In addition to that the airspace from 3000-6000ft, and 10000-18000ft is completely open for anyone to fly over or around Disney. The skywriters often operate at the higher altitudes and aren't in the least affected by the "restrictions" around Disney.

Thanks for the clarification! When I went we were in a little plane, definitely under 30000 ft, so I guess that explains it!

ITA. I'm surprised that Disney is letting this happen.

I hope to see it when we are there! IMHO, a message of love is not freakish.

Another Jesus freak here! :wave2:

maybe he thinks that it is a sin to be at WDW. I have heard people say it before....

I seriously doubt that.

Without starting a debate, but to get to the point, Christians believe in sharing the Gospel or planting seeds and getting the word to as many as possible - if you live in Florida, where else could you sky-write to ensure ten thousands upon ten-thousands of people see it?? :thumbsup2 Makes a lot of sense to me. :goodvibes

Everyone is exposed to "other peoples" beliefs in life. We just need to be tolerant of one another. This guy is a bit unconventional in his delivery, but it appears that he wants to deliver a message of peace, acceptance and love.

Just ignore it, if you can. If you can't, well then that is another issue. ;)

<<ITA. I'm surprised that Disney is letting this happen.>.
Disney does not own the sky so they don't have a say in it. If the guy is not flying in restricted airspace, Disney cannot stop him even if they wanted to. Altho, maybe while he is up there, Disney can pay him to sky write some advertising :)

nevermind, it's so not worth it......temporary insanity on my part, move along, nothing to see here......

Also, if its not restricted airspace, i'm suprised not more businnesses (esp. local businnesses don't clutter the skies with banners and sky writing.

BTW... I have no problem with that per say... Jesus and I are cool. But if someone was to write something along the lines "Praise Allah" most people's reactions would be a lot different and he pbbly wouldnt be flying around... and pbbly someone would think a terrorist attack is imminent. Oh, well. popcorn::

Sorry, cgcruz, I edited, I decided I am not interested in getting into religious debates on a Disney board. I would rather stick to Disney topics. Thanks for your reply though. :)

Chamonix.....I am not debating, I don't think your post would be taken that way...........I think your point makes sense, however it works both ways. I don't like to have to explain to my Christian kid why they cuss on TV or why that unmarried man and woman are in a bed together on a seeminly harmless TV show or why the girl on TV is walking around in her "underwear", but I cannot escape it unless I chose to lock my kid in the house with no connection with the outside world.

If we as a society have to accept (have tolerance may be a better choice of word) freedom of speech, advertising, etc, then I think that it is only fair that it work for all groups of people. If Christians should not share the gospel openly for fear of offending somebody, then non-Christians should not be able to have sex on TV, advertise drinking or smoking, curse, etc......

I posted before you removed your post :thumbsup2

Regardless if you believe in God or Jesus (which I do) or not, why does it make some uncomfortable if to see a message of peace or love? Do you really believe that people who trust in God are "nutjobs"? That really hurts me and my family :guilty:
The message doesn't hurt you, doesn't aim to harm you mentally and I would think it would be comforting to know that "if" there is a God, he still cares for me even if I didn't believe in him. Is that so bad? :confused3
And, if I saw Praise Allah written in the sky, I would feel the same. The majority of Muslims are extremely peaceful and very giving souls. I'm fortunate enough to live in a mixed community. The majority are white, east Indian, Muslim, and Asian. I guess tolerance is something you learn when you are in the thick of multiculturalism.
Sorry, not meant to be a debate but a view from the other side. :)

Freak here as well!

My sister and I saw the skywriting during our 9/22 - 9/30 visit.

I guess I'm the only person reading this thread who expected to see "surrender Dorothy" written in the sky closely followed by flying monkeys.
