When I was trying to get a pin 1 year ago, there was a thread that had people who were waiting for pins and those who were lucky enough to get one. Within a few months most of the people in the thread got their pins due to the tips of others in how to trigger a pin. I have not heard lately as to whether or not there is a technique used in triggering pins.

I find that I am now waiting for a pin for summer 2011 again. So I thought starting another thread might be helpful to those of us waiting.

Here is what I did last year (took me 3 months). Used a new email address (new to Disney) and used a computer never used to logon to the Disney website. I signed up to be on their email list through either disneydestinations.com or Disneyworld.com and saved a few vacations that I priced out. I then created a few itineraries. I got a pin within 2 days of doing the above.

Anyone else have any helpful tips?

I just got the PIN yesterday, by smail mail. I have gotten maybe 1 PIN a year for the last 2 or 3 years. Haven't gotten 1 since Dec 2009. That was the 40% off for most of 2010. Actually DH & I both got that one, by email. I had signed him up at a new email adress on the Disney site; I had been on it for years. When I went to bok that PIN last year, the agent couldn't find my code that I read to her but she did find my DH's so we just booked under his code. I eventually changed that to a better AP rate.

When I read about a few people getting a 40% off code in Dec & reports of new PINS coming, I wanted one!! I went to the Disney sight & started saving vacations. I did several different resorts for different dates. Made sure to price a value, PO French Quarter & YC. Saved dates in May, Sept & Nov. Got the pop up to speak to an agent, but I declined. I went on & off several times over the last 2 weeks in Dec.

I did not order the planning DVD or call & ask about a PIN. But I did also play around on the site while logged in: looked at resorts, restaurant menus, ticket prices. I don't usually log in while doing that.

I also logged in on my DH's name @ end of Dec. & did the same thing, but not as often. Gave up hope & booked with the public code Monday. Got the coveted PIN postcard yesterday!!! So I'll save about another $200!! :woohoo:

Good luck!!:goodvibes

focusondisney, thanks for the tip!! i used it to save some room offers for our planned dates in november last night, and woke up this morning to PIN offers in both my email inboxes!! :cool1::goodvibes

I did the new email and new account yesterday, Today I got the more magic ahead email. I looked at when I got the pin last year and I got it 2 days after receiving this email so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Yeah!! So glad you got the PIN. I've gotten so much great advice & saved so much from info I've read on the Dis. I'm so happy to be able to help a fellow Disser! :goodvibes

Good luck!! Make sure you check all email & "junk" snail mail carefully. They seem to hide those PIN nos! :rotfl:

Well I am trying this. Hope it works. Just added an account for my DH. Nothing has worked for me yet. I am kinda surprised cause we went in 2008 and 2009 but not in 2010 so I was kinda hoping they would try to lure us back. No such luck so far. We have a disney visa. I tried ordering the new CD. I have logged on under my own name and tried looking at different offers, saving a few trips. Nothing so far. Maybe a new person will do the trick. Of course, back when were actually going I got lots of offers!

This is true. I found my pin in my spam folder last year.

I have done all that. I made a new account for DH, saved offers, ordered the DVD, & even the maps  & nothing (so far). One can still hope!!!:rolleyes1

I sign up to receive the planning DVD every year. Also, before I book my trip I sign on to the WDW website and price out a few options, and when the pop up asks why I didn't book I click on the "costs too much" (not sure what it actually says) option. I usually get a couple of pins a year, but my upcoming trip I found the free dining offer would save me more money than my pin :confused3 Oh, and don't forget to check your SPAM!

Thanks for the tips. I have never once gotten a pin code. I will try your suggestions.

I made three accounts and saved offers and did all that jazz weeks ago. Yesterday evening/night I checked my hauntedmansion.com email, lo and behold a pin was there waiting for me! I kept asking myself, is this really a pin before I clicked on it. I read through it and saw the PIN number and I squealed! I was very happy! Saved me $125 off rack rate, $50 off the public pin code. Unfortunately, I had to change my dates to a week later (didn't have to with the public code), but it was well worth it! :goodvibes I like to think the reason I got it was because it was a "hauntedmansion.com" email account. :rotfl:

Pixie dust to all of those who haven't gotten one yet! pixiedust:

I think I have tried everything, I was positive the reason I recieved pin# previously in 2009 and 2010 was when I ordered the trip planing DVD.

Well that does not seem to be working this time,:sad2: I ordered the DVD and got it about a month ago in fact they sent me 2, maybe I ordered it twice :confused3 anyway the pin always came before about a week after the dvd and nothing this time.

Today I made a new email and a new account on the Disney site, fingers crossed. A pin for the 40% and the week I really want to go would be nice.

Originally was booked for Oct 23-29 , changed to FD Sept 29-Oct 5 to save $$$, then to take advantage of the newest discounts out there to save even more $$$ had to change to Sept 26 -Oct 2.

Would be so nice if I could change back to our original dates but the 40% pin offer has been going out since late Dec, I have my doubts if my resort and room catagory will even be available now if I do get a pin#

What I did:

1. Opened a new account with the Husband's name.
2. Made and saved several vacation plans with a good number of people - when I made my DH's account, I was playing around and planned out how much it would be to take my niece and nephew and my DB and DSIL. Later, I made plans with just the dear niece and nephew added on. (I later found out that you can't take kids out of school in Louisiana anymore for any sort of vacation, even if the local school board is okay with it. . .<sigh>.)

DH has now gotten ALL the PIN codes and I've gotten none.

DH is terrible about checking his email and when he does he deletes so much without reading it I am afraid to sign him up, I have sent him things and he says "oh I must have deleted it send it again" :headache:

I wish I had gotten a PIN, called yesterday to make ressies but no such luck. I had them check every family member.

Haven't been in 5 years and before we got them about every year! Just don't understand. I will try having my DH log on and see what happens. Maybe we'll get lucky!

It addressed my family by my maiden name, but that didn't matter. The weird thing is that I'm not sure how Disney has my maiden name (I've been married for 18 years, and have never registered that name with the site). My best guess is that we went with some family in 1997 (my mom paid our way) and they must have the name on file from that.

Things I've done recently -

(1) Updated my profile to try and fix the name problem (the PIN was the second time I've received an email addressed to my maiden name) - no such luck fixing the issue.

(2) Searched and saved vacations while using my account (the PIN did reference one of my vacation searches in the email - so I think this was the key).

(3) I booked a room only reservation online with the public discount (I just changed it to use the PIN and saved $54 - not much, but worth a phone call!)

I go into my email after playing on their site yesterday making a new account with a new email etc. And what do I see but an email from Disney Destinations, my heart goes aflutter , finger tremble as I open the email to find an offer to order the planning DVD :rotfl:
