Who's Gonna Have More Fun? Two PTR's for the Price of One!

Um, no... not even close! :lmao: But I love to take pictures as a hobby and WDW is the perfect place to practice, I think! ;)

And yes, I see hidden Mickey's everywhere too. I totally would have seen that geranium leaf the way you did! In fact, I'll have to share a picture of my dog's belly! :rolleyes1 (yes you read that correctly) She has a spot on her stomach that looks like a Mickey head to me. DH says I'm nuts too, so don't feel bad.

If you are nuts so am I , I see a HM :rotfl: We had a black and white cat with a HM and of course we named him Mickey

You crazy lady walking 2 miles in the heat! What the heck??? :faint: You are brave! I can barely do a mile these days.
For the trip I plan on buying some of those mister fans and yes, absolutely some sort of bandana thingy--- I know there are some that have some sort of gel in them so they stay cool. I might have to look into that. Who needs fashion when you are melting like the wicked witch of the west????:rotfl: "I'm mellllllting. Mellllllllllting."

And you know what? this dude----> :scared: is absolutely the smilie for us this trip! Scared, sweaty and homely with melted makeup!:lmao:

No no no.......Crazy me walked 8 miles in the heat! I usually walk 4 miles, but yesterday I did a double. And the thing is, I wasn't miserable. Hot-yes. Sweaty-yes. But it wasn't so bad to keep me from going around the lakes a second time. (Now I don't think I will be doing 8 miles much, if ever, again.) However........today I did my walk in the mall, and I was very uncomfortable just walking from the A/C in my car to the A/C in the mall. I don't know, maybe yesterday wasn't as humid as today. :confused3 Misters are great-I recommend them, too. It's just that you have to hold on to them. I didn't even bring a bandana, but I would for the next time. What I did was get paper towels from the bathroom, wet them, and put them on my neck. Also, I would grab a few pieces of ice whenever I came across one of the tubs where they sell soft drinks outside. The colder I could make the neck wrap, the better. I've seen some of the bandanas you mention advertised. I'm not sure how they work, but they sound interesting! You could carry a Ziploc in your bag to store the wet wraps when not using them. As for clothing, the lighter the material, the better. (being a Southern girl, you no doubt know this already ;)) Nothing like knit or polyester that sticks to you. Those gauze-type fabrics (you can tell I don't sew ) that are so thin that you can almost see through them would be good. Just don't get wet on KRR!

I hope your migraine has gone by now. I get headaches kind of often, but never migraines, and I just can't imagine how that would feel. Especially when you have kids and a husband to take care of and can't just crawl back in the bed.

I love the hidden Mickey in your geranium! I have to admit, I've never been a hidden Mickey searcher. :guilty: I learned about them after our last trip, and only from reading on the Dis. Maybe I noticed some here and there, but didn't know it was a big thing. Next time! ;)

Now that is too cute! I can definitely see the Mickey!

We did AK in July and wowee! That was one we were glad to start early with breakfast in the park!! The Finding Nemo show is pretty dang cool and it's AC in there!
We missed out on doing Kali RR b/c some fool jumped out of his boat on the ride and they had to close it for a while. And we were going to leave right after riding. It would have felt good in that heat!

I think FOTLK makes you want to see the Broadway show too!! I have seen it twice, once in Mpls before it went to Broadway and once touring. It's phenomenal!!!

We tend to do AK about every third trip. We don't like to ride the big ones like EE, so it's sort of like, been there done that now. This last trip we went for the first time in about 5 years. We saw the afternoon parade which we'd never seen, and the ITTBAB which the kids had not seen. We're good for a while now. It works well because we don't seem to get trips longer than 5 days very often, so I'd just as soon skip AK and have two days each at MK and Epcot along with one at DHS.

Shelly - glad you survived the field trip!!! Those bus rides are rough, aren't they? Tomorrow I'm walking with the 2nd grade to the park, but it's supposed to cool way down!

I could kick myself for not seeing The Lion King when I went to NYC with my DD for her high school graduation gift. We saw Cabaret instead....meh. I believe it is in a long term engagement in Las Vegas now, so if I get back there in the near future, I will definitely get tickets. Not exactly Vegas-type entertainment, but I'm not into the typical showgirls-type shows.

Hello everyone!

Still surviving the heat here in PA. :faint: We are supposed to get some storms tonight and then cool down a bit.

Sorry you had a migraine today Jo! :headache: I didn't wake with one but shortly after I got to school I got one. :sad2: An Excedrin and a Mtn Dew later and it was fading. It's still here, but barely.

Okay, I guess I should move onto talking about Animal Kingdom....Although I'm afraid I don't have a whole lot to say about this park. But, I'll give it my best shot!

Those are pretty pathetic lists, I know. :upsidedow I won't even bother to list what all we haven't done at AK, because the list would be too long! The only things we haven't done that interest me are Kali River Rapids and the Nemo Musical. I don't know if we will do either of those on this trip or not. It was debatable on whether or not we would even go to AK this time, but DS12 insists no trip to WDW would be complete without riding EE!! So it is very likely that we will go to AK one morning and ride EE and Dinosaur and leave! I doubt we will last very long at all in the heat.

Like most others I just don't love AK. It always seems hot and crowded. And very spread out. I don't really get into looking at the animals. The kids really don't either. I think the park is beautiful and I love EE and Dinosaur, but that's about it for me.

I love AK, but I think the main issue with the park is the distance between attractions where there's nothing but excellent theming. (not that I mind the theming or the animals, but it's a long walk) This occurred to me when we took a 3 month old and the awesome Baby Care Center was near pretty much nothing. The couple things that are must sees for us... EE, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and FOTLK are all soo far apart. When you have a ticking time bomb in the form of a 3 month old baby, it really doesn't benefit anyone to be trekking around in search of things to do and places to sit. Also, the "spontaneous" entertainment tends to cause people to block the pathways, when you're trying to get somewhere.

I don't think we'll be spending as much time in AK as we have in the past, until our kid(s) are old enough to walk, or maybe we'll use it as our character m&g park.

Welcome to the PTR! :goodvibes

I can imagine AK would be a nightmare with a baby. I agree, all the good stuff is way too spread out. Once we had just gotten off of Dinosaur and we had an ADR at Tusker House and we weren't exactly sure where it was so we asked a CM and he laughed and said -- you better hurry it's really far away on the other side of the park! :upsidedow

Hey Shelly and Jo. As they say, better late than never. I have been so busy with no time for the dis. But I knew it had too be about time for Shellys TR. So glad I found you guys. Now to get caught up.

:welcome: Cyndi!! So glad you found us. Hope you get all caught up and enjoy!

Anyone else see Hidden Mickey's in their real life all over the place? I'm so awful-- I mean, I see them everywhere. The kids think I've lost it.

Here's the latest--
we planted this geranium.....

and I sat in a chair and looked at the plant and saw this......

Love it!! :thumbsup2 We do those sorts of things too. Especially DS9 and I. We can spot a hidden Mickey anywhere!!

I see it!! How cute!

Shelly, Kali is fun! You get wet though so go right before you leave! It'll feel good in the hot summer heat for sure. :)

I agree with Kelli, you should try to make it to KRR. It's your typical rapids ride, but it is fun. I think you would like the Nemo show as well, if for nothing else but the a/c. :)

I'm still amazed anytime I hear someone list Dinosaur on their favorites list. And look at you in your ride picture! You are just sitting there, cool as a cucumber! Do you pop a Xanax before you ride or what? :rotfl:

we spot HMs everywhere, all the time too! we were eating at a pizza place and i had gotten a bell pepper that was the EXACT shape of a mickey....it was plum crazy!! I took pics with my phone, but couldn't transfer it to the laptop....but when we surprised the kids with a Disney trip a couple of months later, they brought up the bell pepper!!:rotfl:

It looks like a lot of fun, maybe we'll give it a try right before we leave! :cool1:

I think at least DS12 and I will try KRR as long as the line isn't huge! I'm not sure I can talk him into the Nemo show though. :upsidedow

I know I'm crazy, but I love Dinosaur!!! ::yes:: Can't exactly explain why, but I think it is so fun! The kids say they like it but they never look like it in the picture. :rotfl:

Congrats on 5 Months BTW!!

:cool1::cool1::yay::yay: For the end of school!!!! Our latest schools to get around here were last Friday.. I know ya'll are sooo ready!! And as far as me hitting 5 months, it still seems faaaaar since we are in summer...i am really just watching your ticker!!! LOL....once you go, then I am gonna feel closer!

Today's the last day of school here and 11 WEEKS until Disney!!!!

Yay for school being out!! :woohoo: :yay: :cool1: Schools have been out here since about May 20, but they start back in early August. Way too hot to be starting back to school IMO! Isn't it wonderful how it works out that you are so happy when school is out, but then you are kind of ready for it to start back again. ;) I miss those days. :sad1: I really do! So what plans do the boys have for their first days of freedom?

Now we will expect you to be updating and posting every day. No more work excuses. ;) And only 11 weeks until you leave for WDW? :faint: Life is moving too quickly for me!

I love the pics of EE on your last update. That one of the train coming down out of the mountain! I love your statement, "I don't really get into looking at the animals." :rotfl2: I don't know why, that just made me laugh. Probably because I feel the same way!

Afternoon everyone!!!!
One day closer to Disney, one day closer to Disney, One day closer to Disney:banana:....................................................:cool1:

Hope everyone is having a good day so far. Is anyone here or have you all left town????

Sorry you woke up with a migraine!:flower3: That'll mess up your plans in a hurry!! Excedrine right off the bat is about the only thing that helps me...take it and then a little bit of a nap, usually knocks it out,...but it doesn't sound like you are getting a nap in this morning!!
I did wake up with a headache the last few mornings, but once I got up and got going, they went away...definitely NOT a migraine! Hope you get better as you shop!!!
Migraines are so stupid. I hate them. I get them often, some are worse than others. :headache: Thank goodness for Excedrin..... and coke, although these days I've been hooked on Diet Dr Pepper. Oh my goodness it's heaven in a can.:cloud9:

I totally see it too!!!! How adorable! My Beau Gator the Bulldog has one too but it is very faint and I don't think it would show up at all if I took a pic of it.
Oh and--- I think WDW is a great place to photograph! :goodvibes

Oh why wait until next time to find the HM's? Start looking in all the Disney movies. They are EVERYWHERE.

I can't believe you walked so far! That is crazy! You must have had extra energy or something!:lmao: I walked this morning at 6 am. I didn't want to have to deal with the heat later. I have been trying to sit outside as much as possible during the day b/c I really think if I stay inside all summer the heat will be that much worse on me by the time the trip rolls around.

Oh yeah-- thin gauzy material---- it is a must!! I can't wait to shop a little more for the trip.:yay:

Today's the last day of school here and 11 WEEKS until Disney!!!!

Wonderful AK post! Your pics are great as always. You got a great shot of the coaster! Were you on that one or was it a random shot?

And yeah-- how is it that you look in your pic like you are choosing a steak out of a cooler at the butcher, all blase like, and I look in my picture like they asked me if I was interested in going on a date with a serial killer?????
Something's just not adding up.

:rotfl:

I do like that ride--- I really do. It just scares the tinkle out of me.

Your DS is right---- no trip to WDW would be complete without taking a ride on EE!!:goodvibes

You aren't interested in the animals???? Don't you like hairy gorillas?????:confused3

Hi All!

We bought the "Cool Wraps" for our last trip at Walgrens. Stuck them in ice water overnight and used them the next day. They work pretty good, but don't ever try to squeeze or tie them, the material will burst open and then you will have thousands of gels all over the place.

Ask me how I know. :rotfl2:

Thanks for that link, Sea. I will make note to not push pull tug wrap, or otherwise abuse my cool wrap. Lest I be gellin' all ov'ah.

Thanks for partying with me!!:banana:

I would hate it if we started school in August!

No real big plans for the summer due to the WDW trip being in August. Just a lot of playing outside, maybe a few day trips, maybe some swimming, and hopefully some reading!

Okay, I'll try to post everyday now!! :goodvibes

Oh yes, and add shopping for the trip to the above list of summer activities!! :thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed the AK update! I think DS12 was on the coaster in that picture. I rode with him 2X and I was done. There was NO ONE in the single rider line so he went back on like 4 more times! :scared1:

Okay, so I don't get it. You know the big loud scary dino is going to jump out at you and you know when it is coming....Right??? Why am I the only one who thinks it is funny and everyone else freaks out????? :scared1::rotfl::lmao:

Nope, no hairy gorillas for me. :confused3:laughing:
