Who's Going in October 2005??!!*MNSSHP dates & info*

Now that I think I have our dining all ironed out (hopefully) my next task is to figure out if we should go with a rental car or use Disney transportation. El Cheapo me says we should go with Disney's transportation ... but the Mom of an almost 4 year old side of me says having our own car would be a better option. What are the rest of you doing for transportation?????

I can equally argue for both. I've rented on lots of trips and after the first 2 times realized that I could rent from a company right at the airport. I would use mousesavers to find good codes and keep checking! I would check rates and when (and I often did) I found a cheaper rate I would book that and just cancel the old one. You may want to read up on National's Emerald Ilse service-I haven't used it since 2002 and I think they made changes. But it was great you just walk right out to the cars and pick one out from a special area and when you drive out you give your Credit card and verify your info at the booth-very quick. I couldn't use it in Jan 2004 because with 6 of us I needed a minivan which isn't always on the "Ilse". My DH found renting a car very stressful and we had to bring 3 carseats with us because we didn't want to trust the car rental seats. Driving to the parks wasn't much easier than using Disney transportation as you still need to use the parking lot tram though if you're there early you may be close enough to walk to entrance. And isn't a good option at MK since you park at TTC and then need to take monorail or ferry to MK-not fun getting back to your car at park closing.

Last trip we got a limo instead-cheaper than renting a minivan for the week and they provided carseats so we only had the 1 for the baby to use on the plane. They did a grocery stop which I really liked as I didn't have to navigate my way (um..DH's way) in the rental car-not that it is that hard to find. I wouldn't do a limo again-the kids didn't seem to get that big a kick out of it so I would just do a van from the limo company which is cheaper-we can't fit into a town car. I think I will still do the van rather than ME because I still want the grocery stop and I don't want to have to wait around for ME, my luggage or have a long a lead time when heading back to the airport.

I figure if something "happens" and I need to go to a drug store or something I can just take a cab. But I must admit when I go without DH I find it reassuring to have the car just in case.

Sat: MK all day- Dinner, anyone??

How about CP? My kids love it and we really enjoy the food.

You didn't schedule much time for Epcot. My DD (5 at the time) really enjoyed making the masks. My DS(not quite 4 at the time) had to go back to the room with DH because he was tired from MNSSHP the night before. He would have enjoyed it too. DD & I had a great time traveling the world and taking photos in each country. This year I'm going to buy her a passport.

I am so excited :Pinkbounc I ordered my tickets on the 24th of June & they arrived today, now I really can't wait! One of my tickets is a Minnie, I finally got one lol My day just got a little brighter :sunny: I don't know who is more excited about this me or the boys :rotfl:

Me Again! (I'm trying to catch up with MommyBoo and Minnie with the # of posts - over 100 each, I'm only at 85!! :rotfl: )

Tues - Ohana
Wed - CRT am - Cal Grille pm
Thur - LTT
Fri - Hollywood & Vine
Sat - Party for the Senses
Sun - Le Cellier
Mon - 1900 Park Fare
Tues - Home...

We have 35 TS credits I'll be paying some of DD credits out of pocket!! Wish I could find out more info on California Grille, the menu sounds enticing, but with it being 2TS, I wonder is it still just app, main, dessert - the menu lists app/sushi/1st course/main/ dessert... with just the app, main, and dessert I get $50 min (2 TS is 60)

Now I still havent firmed up our park plans mind you!! I think we'll do a lot of hopping... I have AM emh as > Tues MGM/ Fri MK / Sat AK / Mon Epcot/

PM emn > Tues AK/ Wed MK / Thurs Epcot/ Sun MGM /

I'm a bit overwhelmed trying to remember which parks to avoid which days, I know to sleep in on Friday... in the end, it will all change anyway!! (DD and my parents will make switches, just you watch)

Thurs: Donald's Breakfastosaurus, AK for rest of day, Rainforest Cafe for Dinner

Rainforest Cafe isnt on the dining plan, so i would try for a later Donald's sitting, then eat at either FlameTree BBQ (outdoors, but good food) or Tuskers House (a/c!!) with a CS credit, then eat at a resort for dinner (maybe Whispering Canyon at WL?) (remember AK does close early around 5)

Good luck with that! :goodvibes What kind are you looking at?

Well, here it goes. Don't hold me to it! :rotfl:

Sat 15 - Arrive, DD, Cirque, Rainforest Cafe
Sun 16 - AK - Epcot Dinner
Mon 17 - Typhoon Lagoon - MGM Fantasmic Pkg - H&V
Tue 18 - MK - Cindy's Lunch - Chef Mickey Dinner
Wed 19 - MGM - Hoop Dee Doo dinner
Thu 20 - up in the air - MNSSHP night dinner CP?
Fri 21 - FREE DAY - DH & DD gets to sleep in Boatwrights breakfast
Sat 22 - Epcot - Biergarten lunch

I'm still not done with it all yet. I also have created a spreadsheet to keep track of the meals. DH want's to eat at Epcot more often, but he doesn't care for the park. Go figure! We also always go back to the resort for a mid-day break. I love being able to do that! I just wish the hours would come out before they do. I'm also thinking of doing MK on the EMH morning. Just don't know!

I finally convinced DH to sit down with me yesterday to go over the itinerary I created. We made a few changes so hopefully this will work. Now that the meals are figured out it's time to work on touring plans for the parks. I had no idea that a "vacation" would take so much pre-planning.

Saturday -- Arrive, check-in, hang out at the resort

Sunday -- AK w/ first available ADR at Donald's Breakfastosaurus; Flame Tree for lunch; might park hop somewhere else that evening

Monday -- Bkfst in room; MGM; Sci Fi for lunch; Evening ????

Tuesday - MK w/ first available CRT for bkfst; afternoon break at hotel; Dinner at Crystal Palace; Spectro Magic and Wishes

Wednesday -- Epcot w/ "Brunch" at PSB in Norway; late afternoon break at hotel; Dinner at Beaches & Cream; Illuminations (think we can park at the Beach Club for dinner then use the International Gateway to go over for Illuminations???

Thursday -- Sleep in after 2 late nites on Tues & Wednesday; hit Downtown Disney (even though I need NO more Mickey stuff .. but can't resist the chance to shop); Afternoon at AK; Dinner at Chef Mickey's (we are thinking 7:30 so we can maybe catch the MNSSHP fireworks from the beach after dinner)

Friday -- EMH at Magic Kingdom; Dinner at Epcot Le Cellier

Saturday -- MGM; Lunch at Toy Story Pizza Planet; Fantasmic Dinner Pkg at Mama Melrose (we will do this if we are successful in pooling our meal credits and paying out of pocket for a couple of DD's meals ... hopefully they honor the dining pkg at Mama Melrose like they seem to have done in the past for Fantasmic)

Sunday -- 10:30 a.m. return flight home

OK that just reminded me of something...if you rent a car you could check out some of the Disney outlets in the area.....

AAUGH!!! I'm going insane. I thought I had a pretty good itinerary worked out and then I start thinking and worrying that we are overloaded on some days / not enough on others. Our honeymoon at Disney World in 1999 must have been very disorganized because I didn't even know about Disboards, Tour Guide Mike and Touringplans back then .. didn't even make any PS's prior to going. Guess we will find out on this trip just how much we really missed out on back then when I didn't have a clue.

Aumillers,
You posted that on 10/4 you will be at MK with CP before spectro and wishes. I am wondering with it being a MNSSHP night and closing at 6pm will they still have spectro and wishes before the party? I too am going to be staying at ASMo 10/1 to 10/9 and am starting to work on my itinerary so I can get my ADR's done for my free dining package. I am having a really hard time choosing where to go when. I might have to wait till the official schedule comes out. Does anyone have suggestion on what is the best night for MNSSHP? It seems like most people on here are going 10/6 making me think 10/4 might be less crowded.

Angela :confused3

I don't believe there is an MNSSHP on 10/4. Someone correct me if I am wrong. :confused3

No there isn't a MNSSHP on 10/4

there was "speculation" long long time ago that there was going to be one then, but its now listed on page one here on the beginning of this thread ! I wonder if its most of Dis families coming on the 6th :rotfl: I've read Fridays are crowded... :confused3 Esp with it being Columbus Day Weekend... :confused3

Hey, hey... we now have a new van! 2003 Dodge Caravan, how we're going to make car payments is going to keep us up at nights!! (we havent had a car payment in 10 years!!) We now have a/c in the car, and it doesnt leak oil, and it doesnt clunk when I turn corners... :goodvibes Thanks for the :wizard: wishes!!

:cheer2: Congratulations on the new van!!! I have a Chrysler Town & Country. While I often wish I didn't have a van and instead would like something smaller and sportier .. it's great for hauling DD and everything she requires to travel.

I'm hoping based on past historical hours that we are able to catch Spectromagic on Tuesday 10/4. It was hard trying to figure out when we could see it and avoid MNSSHP. While I would love to attend the big party ... we all decided we should wait a couple more years until our DD is older. She will be 4 a couple weeks after we get back. Our thoughts were if we get there and see that she could keep up with the later hours that we can always buy tickets at the last minute (pending availability) and go if we change our minds.

I think I've gotten my DD pirate costume almost complete! pirate: I'm dying the vest now. Boy, a seamstress I am not! :rotfl2: But, it somehow came out looking okay! Does anyone know if I'm suppose to wash vest before she wears it? If not, I'll ask on the crafty board. Those people know everything!
