Just booked a birthday trip at PP for Dec 12-14 to celebrate my mom and DS10 birthday.. We took her last year and had such a great time that we decided to do it again.
My mom has no idea that on our last day we will be giving her an early christmas present and upgrading her ticket to an AP  I can't wait to see the look on her face when a present is waiting for her in the room :goodvibes from our Dad :santa:
My kids will have their crazy hats on and I will have my LGMH on and will be on the lookout for other DISers out there :)

How exciting!! 2 Birthdays!

December 3-6 to see the Candlelight Processional for the first time. For me it doesn't begin to feel like Christmas until I've been to Disneyland.

just booked fantasmic seating for December 7th. this will be the first time seeing the show :woohoo:

My hubby and I will be there from Dec. 7 to 13 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We plan on doing the segway tour.

Hi! I have a couple questions that I'm hoping someone can help me out with. I'm going to DLand right around Christmas Day - I want to go on Xmas Day, but my mom thinks it will be less crowded the day after. We've done both before, but we can't remember which was better. Does anyone know?

Also, what is HoJo? And when did they start doing reserved seating for Fantasmic? Every time I've seen it, people just kind of sit on the ground alongside the railing.

We are going from the 7th-19th. It will also be DD number 5s 1st birthday.:cake:

I went last year just before Christmas, and this year we have a tentative plan for the weekend immediately following Christmas - the same time your mom wants to go. Honestly, that weekend is not my first choice, but it was the only one available for us this year. That whole week right between Christmas and New Year's is famously crowded. VERY crowded. In fact, it is the busiest time of the year! Also, you have to factor in that Christmas is so close to the weekend this time, and a LOT of folks will probably be arriving on the 26th, since it is a Friday and a lot of people will be off work. Last year, the 26th was on a Wednesday, so there was still time for work during that week and a lot of people probably didn't travel until that following weekend.

All in all, given the unpredictable crowd levels this whole year up to now and the current economic problems, there is no telling if this holiday season will be substantially less crowded at DLR than normal or even MORE crowded than it usually is. Seems like it could go either way. But IF our DLR trip stays on course, we are going to tough it out and go from the 26th - 29th, and just go in armed with a plan of action so we make sure we get certain thigns done no matter how bad the crowds are! It IS manageable if you plan it right.

we'll be there dec. 11th thru 14th.

May everyone have safe travel and make lots of happy memories on their trips.

Bumping this with some more pictures!!

I have always loved those gingerbread men and the reindeer! Seeing those pictures definitely has me excited to hurry and get to DLR to see all the holiday stuff! I feel like I cannot wait until my planned December trip, which is waaaaaaay at the end of that month. I want to go there either at the end of November or the beginning of December just to see all the fun and merriment. I need to see the icicles on Main Street when they go up! I love that ToonTown tree too - sometimes it has different stuff on the top of it. Last year it was the Santa hat, but other years it has had other tree toppers.

I think I am going to change my avatar to a holiday-themed thing. Your pictures got me in the spirit, Courtney!

We'll be at Disneyland Dec. 7-11 and staying at Paradise Pier!! This will be the first trip for our girls (5 & 4) and DH and I haven't been since Nov. '99.

we will be there Dec 27th until Jan 7th. Staying at Disneyland Hotel.

Thank you Sherry! My mom just told me that since my dad can't get off work until the 24th, we'll be driving down to Orange County from the Bay Area xmas eve, and then we'll be going up to LA on the 28th. I don't think she wants to do xmas day at all, so I guess that leaves me with the lesser of two evils between the 26th and 27th!

You are welcome! Well, good luck! I hope to be there at that same time, if all goes as planned. You just may see me! Just remember - it will likely be very crowded (though I still think it could go either way and either be much less crowded or much more crowded because of the unpredictable attendance/economy this year). Your best bet to get the most thigns done would probably be the 26th. Many other people will probably be traveling that day and may not show up at DLR until later in the day. Then, I think it will be crazy from the 27th on through New Year's. So if you can show up super early on the 26th and get in to DL at opening, you can probably get a lot of stuff done before the massive crowds show up. Again, just be mentally prepared so it won't be too shocking or intimidating if you DO see crazy crowds. Just sort of tell yourself and your family that you may not be able to get everything done. Have a plan. Make PS's for dining to save a lot of wait time. Use Fast Passes only for the rides that really need it. Some of them have fast-moving lines anyway, even if you don't get an FP. Remember that some lines move fast (like POTC) and look much worse than they are, have the list of everything you want to do in case the crowds are not TOO bad, and have the back-up, condensed list of only the super-important things you guys need to see and can't do without in case the crowds ARE bad. Good luck and have fun! Make sure you keep us all posted on how the trip is shaping up!:goodvibes
