We are thinking of going to Tanque Verde Ranch in Oct. and will be using DVC points. If anyone has been there recently it would be great to get some info. Is it worth the points, how is the weather in Oct., how long to go for, how are the kids programs and any other info. that you can provide. Thanks for the help.

We were there in July 2004 for 5 nights. Points are high but we loved it and would highly recommend it. Not sure what the temps are in Oct. but in July it was 102 to 108.

October should be nice, maybe on the warm side during the days but very nice evenings. Day temps in the 80s, cooling into the 50s at night. Warm enough to swim in the sun but you may want a light jacket for evening walks. Should be BEAUTIFUL!

I'd also be interested in information about Tanque Verde Ranch. I've been considering it the last year or so. Especially info on the kids programs, the rooms and the food.

Is it a nice place? Our DVC rooms are so nice, I embarrassed to say I've become a hotel snob :guilty: .

Thanks for any input. :)

:cool1: I went to TVR about 3 yrs ago. The rooms were nice and clean nothing compares to DVC you get no kitchen as they give you all your meals don't miss BBQ night. I think they have nature programs and horseback riding program for the kids. Tucson also has a nice wildlife park nearby the kids might enjoy You can also visit Tombstone it's like a real wild west town OK corral has a show, wild west saloon My husband had a great time :cool1: :hippie: pirate: :yay:

We're leaving in 4 days to TVR! :goodvibes I'll be sure and post the highlights when we get back.

We went there quite a few years ago (6 or 7?), but it still remains in our top 5 of all trips. Definitely worth the points. It was all inclusive when we went... don't know if it still is. I was born in Tucson and love the desert almost as much as the ocean (almost).

How/where do you find out the points for those?
Phone Member Services for point values specific to your travel dates, room type and group composition (# adults, #/age children).

I was quoted the following for two adults traveling in late Feb'08:
* Room type "Moderate 1": 62 points/night + $95 exchange fee
* Room Type "Deluxe Suite/Type 1": 72 points/night + $95 exchange fee

The points included your room, 3 meals each day, most activities and the resort's 15% gratuity charge. Free airport pickup/return if staying 4 or more nights.

If you want to use points for Tanque Verde, you had better move quickly! It looks like it is being "refined" out of the Concierge Collection (along with most of the other choices). We have used points twice for this resort and absolutely loved it. It is unfortunate that DVC is getting rid of most of these exchange options.

Haven't been there recently, but DH and I went there on our honeymoon in May 1997. It was an amazing trip and we can't wait to go back when our kids are old enough! (We didn't have any kids at the time, but spoke with some families who were there and the kids just RAVED about the kids' program.) The food was wonderful, the rooms were gorgeous and comfortable, and the staff was absolutely incredible.

I'm bummed to hear that they are going to phase TVR out of DVC, as that's been one of my selling points as I try to nudge DH closer to taking the DVC plunge! Hmm, maybe I just won't tell him!:rotfl2:
