Whoo-Hoo! Awesome discount from Expedia!

I had a free dining package booked through Disney, ASMo, 2 day PH, and QSDP; 647.07. Then the room discounts came out, same package as before; 623.75. I have been waffling about the QSDP since it's just me post cruise in December. So, I thought about just doing room only, using an old 1 day base ticket & upgrading to an AP. Then I checked Expedia...

These are sample per night rates for Dec 16-19 (for my travel dates)
Pop; 62 Standard Room
POR; 104 Standard Room
WL; 177 Courtyard View
AKL; 180 Standard View
CR; 201 Garden View

SO... using my Fuzzy Disney Math... I could have saved 200 doing the room only for a Value, OR I could have broke even staying at a Moderate, OR I could have ONLY spent 200 more staying at a Deluxe...


I am now at the CONTEMPORARY!!!!

Thanks for posting...I am not sure if we should book through Expedia or stick w/ the 40% off that we have now through Disney.

Has anyone had experience having to cancel their Disney trip when booking w/ Expedia and getting the money refunded (w/ in the timelines - I think it is 3 days).

Yes, I have booked through Expedia and had to cancel a hotel reservation.

Because I have done it with a non-Disney vacation, I feel comfortable booking my Disney ressie with them. And you can still use Magical Express with an Expedia reservation too.

Congratulations! It seems Expedia has some great rates for Disney. I'll have to keep that in mind for future trips.

The $201 rate (+ tax) is what I got with my 40% off pin at the CR. That rate is still available directly through Disney.

No, you did not miss anything at all! There are just other rates available on Expedia that are not available through Disney. For example, for my dates, there are only tower or atrium rooms at CR available with the 40% promo. I was able to snag a Garden Room on Expedia. Not only that, Expedia prices all the days the same, rather than Disney's way of pricing the weekends higher. So, I will be there on a weekend, but will pay the $201 price each night. And I had a $50 coupon from Expedia as well. Just a bit of a bonus!

Just saved a ton on my ressie by going thru Expedia! If you check in Dec. 16 you get more than 40% off because your room rate stays the same as check in, no jumping to another season rate.

FWIW It works for Thanksgiving also. I got a room only at POP for Tuesday before T-giving (11/23/10) through the Sunday after (11/28/10) for $79 a night. Disney has it at $79 the first night; $125 Wed through Friday night, and I think $82 for Saturday.

Yeah. You have to pay in full at the time of booking but you can cancel with a full refund a week from your arrival date (or maybe 5 days from) and any day after that, you are charged a full day's rate.

(instead of hotel + flight or some other option) I picked Find Hotels near: An attraction (drop down box) For the attraction I put Walt Disney World and under additional search options I put Disney in the name box. Then I just searched my dates. 11/23/10 - 11/28/10

Play around with the start dates if you have any flexibility. Since you said the week after I put in 11/28 - 12/3 and I get $62 per night, but if I put in 11/27 - 12/3 I get $90 per night. (All rates for POP Century) The first night seems to be the key to how much the room will be for the whole time.

Thank you! Yes, and we need that 27th. I guess we will keep what we have which is 123 for the 27th, 96 for the next 5 nights and 103 for Fri. That's with the AP code. But it was worth the try for me. Thanks again!!
