Who will be watching Emily Maynard the Bachelorette? No Spoilers PLEASE

...I think it's Alejandro - Alessandro left already.

I didn't even know their names were different until now. :confused3 :rotfl2:

I'm not getting why a lot of you don't like Doug. :confused3 From the very beginning he seemed like a great guy to me. He was the only one that seemed to care enough and willing enough to sacrifice HIS time with Emily to bring up Kaylon simply because he's a single parent himself so he gets how degrading a comment that was.

He seems to have an angry vibe to him a lot. Like he could turn into a rager. Of course, all the times he went off, they were at Kalon, which turned out to be justified. So who knows?

Emily already had a raging maniac in Brad. I'd hate to see her end up with another one. That also wouldn't be good for Rikki, to see Mom with two guys who tend to fly off the handle. She went from having no daddy figure in her life to seeing mom with angry guys, that leaves an impression.

I am suddenly a Jef fan after last night. I didn't get his appeal before. Not feeling Arie at all. I don't even think he's cute. I think she's attracked to the race car driver in him. Ryan is the bad guy so many women want. She even said to him at one point "you're so bad!"

And I fess up, I looked up the spoilers. Bad me. :guilty:

Maybe Happygirl can bump her thread for the spoilers so you gals can discuss it. You all are dying to. It sounds like something juicy actually happened this season.

Trying not to look. . . trying not to look. . .

I do like Jef better than I did.
But, as a 'woman of a certain age'....
He is STILL very young and not as mature as he hopes he is.
He hadn't even gotten up the nerve to kiss her, and it was obviously nervous and 'stiff' when he finally did!

I do think that he is great, and very good looking! (just get the hair a tiny bit more under control - dude)
If they are wanting to bring a younger crowd into the show, this would do it!!!

OMG, does Arie always look stoned???

I haven't looked more closely at the bio's of the guys.
But, with what I see in Emily, I am not sure any of them are up to the standard that she really, (consciously or not), is hoping for.

As another women of a certain age and similar experiences, on other relationship type threads here on the DIS, I usually find myself agreeing with your observations & posts. You and Disney Doll, I usually just type, "DITTO." :surfweb: ::yes:: Glad you are sticking around here this time. :goodvibes

It does seem that The Bachelor(ette) show has pretty much run it's course. Even with recycling whoever then can, the majority of the people on are clearly duds now.

While Emily seems to have brought in new energy, we ALL are basically asking, "Why is she HERE?" :confused3 :scratchin I can kind of seeing them going on in a whole new direction with Jef and a younger crowd. He clearly is really too young to get married and fully know what it entails. Yet, he does have a very wholesome appeal. He's much different than The Bachelor Pad sleaze. Maybe, instead of focusing on finding someone to get married, as that hasn't worked, according to the show's scorecard, maybe they can just help younger people find each other and teach them how to ask the right questions and what to look for. :thumbsup2

Emily made it clear that on Brad's season, NONE of that stuff was asked. She is definitely asking. Although announcing she wants a gaggle of kids, on the first date, as soon as Rikki gets situated - not the two adults involved :rolleyes1, can really scare men away. :scared1:

But, Jef certainly said all the right things, even though he didn't have any experiential understanding behind what he said. A show like that would be more helpful. I know Jef moved up the ranks in my book - even though I don't think he's right for Emily.

Oh, I don't know- he is 27. Older than many of us when we got married. There is a big difference between looking and/or acting young and being immature.

He owns his own business that does pretty well. I heard his company makes water drinkable in 3rd world countries- pretty great. He comes from money- his parents own a huge ranch in UT. He is religious, which is a big plus for Emily (not that they highlight that on the show). His parents are Mormon, but he is not, so no conflict there.

As far as the not kissing thing, I think he is playing a good game of "hard to get" and "good religious boy". Seems to really pique Emily's curiosity...

Love Emily - each week I am more and more impressed with how she handles herself.

My top three guys are Doug, Travis, and Sean. :cloud9: They all seem to be down-to-earth, loyal, mature, & fun guys.

I'm on the fence about Arie (sp?). Liked him at first, but last night I got some sort of weird wussy vibe from him.

I like Emily too. She seems sincere. My top three guys are Sean, Jef and Travis.

Doug seems like the kind of guy that has his anger just bubbling under the surface. It's the entire way he carries himself, it's very haughty and confrontational IMO. I don't like him and I think he used the whole Kalon thing to his advantage to make himself look like the good guy, the ONLY one who came to Emily and told her.

Arie is annoying me. And all he does is kiss Emily. There's more to a relationship than making out.

He seems to have an angry vibe to him a lot. Like he could turn into a rager. Of course, all the times he went off, they were at Kalon, which turned out to be justified. So who knows?

Yup, yup yup.:thumbsup2

Jef's stock went way up last night! He seems, dare I say it since this is reality tv, normal! Very sincere and down to earth.

Arie, well I liked him in the beginning but now he's icky to me. Nobody likes a sloppy kisser either. Ick. But he keeps acting like he owns Emily or has a stronger claim on her. Maybe he does, I don't know but it's annoying to watch for some reason.

Ryan drives me crazy. I don't think all the wires are connected in his head. He thinks he's God's gift to women, that much is clear.:sad2:

Jef seems pretty genuine. Ya, he's young but it's kind of endearing. Maybe that's what Emily wants. Someone fun and young with a good heart. She jumped right into motherhood at what, 19 or 20?

Arie does look stoned! His eyes look bleary all the time! It's odd. I don't think he's attractive.

I don't think Jef is too young to get married. He can share his skateboard with Ricki.:thumbsup2

Maybe she shouldn't have opened with that? Maybe?

I like him. He might be very right for Emily, if she wants a younger sort of fella.

I'd already had my first baby at 27 and been married for three years.:thumbsup2

I think it's wonderful what he's doing with his business. I didn't realize he was Mormon. Oops, you said his parents.

You're right about him with Emily. Here she has all these guys falling all over her, trampling each other to get time with her and Jef is the elusive one...:rolleyes1

I don't think Jef is too young to get married. He can share his skateboard with Ricki.:thumbsup2

Did you notice that when Jef was talking about their life together he mentioned how Emily would be coming home from work (I guess she will be the one working ;) ) and she'd come home to find him & Rikki dancing and singing to their hair brushes & combs. :rotfl:

On a serious note, I agree. I didn't know he does that with his business. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I had asked a couple weeks ago if Sean was possibly Mormon. He came out right away talking about his strong values of his faith with Emily's girlfriends. So Emily had probably said she prefers a man who comes from a strong religious background.

I did catch that. But I took it to mean "work" as in getting her nails done or her hair bleached...

I think it's really awesome and that I know for me, I take for granted just how easy it is to access fresh water.

Judging by her twitter, she seems pretty religious herself so that would make sense. I wonder how religious Brad was, lol!

Doug seems very tempermental to me. The one time someone (Chris?) said something about him making a sacrifice by leaving his son, he flipped out. And then the guys were teasing him about something else, I can't remember what it was now, and he got all mad. He seems like a loose cannon to me. Also I didn't like the way he wanted Emily to kiss him.

As for Arie. . .

Arie. :sad2: Arie. :sad2: Arie. . . :sad2:

I liked him too, at the beginning. Although I was concerned about Emily thinking of him as a substitute for Ricky.

What's really weird & interesting is that Arie is not only a semi-famous race car driver, his FATHER was a race car driver, too. He won the Indy 500 twice. So, in the way that Ricky Jr. had gotten into racing via a famous race car driver father, so did Arie.

On the one hand, that may make him perfect to fit into Emily's moneyed world. She definitely likes fame & Arie & his dad have that. Since he is in the race car world, he could help with raising the heiress of the Nascar fortune & teach her what there is to love about the race car world. But driving Indy cars instead of Nascar, he isn't under the thumb of Rick Sr. or the shadow of Ricky Jr.

Someone previously mentioned that it was a round about way for Emily to end up with a race car driver after all. But Indy/Formula 1 car racing is a different division(?) of race car driving, so Emily & Arie might never have met, normally, unless Emily goes to Indy events. She seemed genuinely thrown by the fact that Arie was a race car driver, so she had no clue who he was.

Whereas he might have been aware of who she is because of all the news stories after Ricky died, and of course, being on Brad's season. But, he didn't have any way to meet her without seeming stalkerish.

Although, I highly suspect the producers purposely trolled around the race car circuits, trying to find someone interested in dated her who also fit the criteria. A little TOO coincidental he is a race car driver. :stir:

Those all seemed to be the pluses, IMO. . . until this week, where as everyone has said, he is turning out to be a weenie wimp after all. :sad2:

Funny, because RYAN had said Arie was a soft wimp a couple weeks ago and we blew off what he said. :rotfl:

And Emily saved giving him the rose LAST last nite. So, either she's punishing him, giving him a warning that he'd better straighten up, OR the shine has worn off about Arie/substitute Ricky and she's seeing who he actually is. Which is a good thing for her after all. Better she knows now, than choose him and break off with him in 2 months when she learns he's not so much like Ricky after all.

Well, Brad owns bars & hotels. . . :rolleyes1

:lmao:

Wait, that was Chris? I thought it was Kalon who he went off on.

Was Doug also the one condescending to Chris about his age? I remember Chris had a sit down talk with someone last week and I thought they should have waited till they got back to the guy's house for that. Was that Doug?

ITA. I think Jef would make a great next Bachelor. As you said, he is fresh and soemthing different. The audience has long since stopped buying into the idea that the couple left standing will end up married. Why not give this younger type of person a shot?

Jef seems very genuine to me. He's not going to agree to something unless he believes it. I really like him and think he has a level of maturity far beyond his years. I just don't see him with Emily.

Well, Brad owns bars & hotels. . . :rolleyes1

Oh maybe you are right. I think it was the confrontation between Doug and Chris I am thinking of, and Chris was the idiot in that particular argument. I guess it was Kalon who said something to Doug about his kid. Whatever he said though I didn't think it was that bad, certainly not bad enough to get into some big argument about.

It was Doug though that had the mini meltdown when the guys were teasing him right? When Emily just appeared at the door, right as they were getting into it and one of the other guys said he thought Doug was going to hit him? Or was that Chris too? I can't even remember now.

I like Emily too. She seems sincere. My top three guys are Sean, Jef and Travis.

Those are my top 3 too, in that order. Although I do like John "Wolf" too, in that I think he is really nice looking. We haven't seen enough of him yet though to know if he is a nutter or not. On this show God knows that is highly possible.

You're right. I just went back to take a look, Elinor mentioned it was Doug who was condescending/threatening to Chris about his age:
I actually agree with Chris about Doug. But he went about it all wrong. By Doug lauging it off, shaking his head and such it made Chris feel even more threatened about his age.

So that makes THREE examples where he has meltdowns on different people. I thought it might have been just at Kalon after all, but no. He's just an angry guy.

Kalon said something like "Wow, you are putting your life with your kid on hold to be here on the show?" And Doug went off on him, about how he is NOT putting his life on hold.

Then last week(?) I heard Doug say that himself, that he put his life on hold to stay on the show. I guess he can say it, but not someone else.

I don't think Jef is into Emily AT ALL. Emily knows it too. She should listen to her gut. This is just my opinion, but guys who are in to you, don't wait weeks to show they are crazy about you. Especially on a reality show like this , where any feelings/actions must be accelerated.

Still don't like Ari. Still can't put my
finger on it. But he and Emily do have a certain kind of passion.

LOVE Sean! And all her girlfriends picked Sean so that should tell her something.

I like Doug, but don't think Emily likes him.

And Ryan....EWWWWW! I hope she boots him soon!

...As far as the not kissing thing, I think he is playing a good game of "hard to get" and "good religious boy". Seems to really pique Emily's curiosity...

....and when he finally DID kiss her, it seemed more romantic...

....which really shows Chris' immaturity....the way that I took it was that Doug didn't even want to get into it with Chris and kept himself composed, whereas Chris kinda went off the handle a bit.....:confused3
